Klaviyo default abadoned cart flow is failing its own filters.

Forum|alt.badge.img

As the title says. Setup the default klaviyo abadoned cart flow for shopify. Checked the performance of it today and noticed it keeps failing on its own filters.

This is about 2/3 of all abandoned cart triggers.

Any Ideas

Hello @Brewedco ,

Thanks for sharing the details along with the screenshots! I believe the filters are actually working as intended here.

The filter "Placed Order zero times since starting this flow" is designed to prevent emails from being sent to customers who’ve already completed their purchase after triggering the flow. This ensures that people who’ve gone through checkout successfully don’t receive abandoned cart reminders.

To confirm:

  1. Go to the activity feed for a profile that failed the filter.
  2. Check if there’s a "Placed Order" event timestamped after the "Checkout Started" event but before the abandoned cart email was set to send.

If 2/3 of triggers are failing, this could mean your checkout recovery rate is pretty solid—customers are completing purchases quickly after starting checkout, which is a good sign.

Let me know if that helps or if you find something different when checking specific profiles!

Hello @Brewedco thanks for sharing your problem here in klaviyo community.

It sounds like your Klaviyo abandoned cart flow is being blocked by its own filters, preventing emails from sending. Here’s what you can check:

1️⃣ Filter Conflicts: Ensure the flow filters (e.g., "Placed Order = False") aren't excluding valid triggers.

2️⃣ Trigger Timing: If your flow is triggered too soon, Shopify may not have updated the abandoned cart status yet. Try adjusting the delay.

3️⃣ Checkout vs. Add to Cart: Make sure the trigger is "Started Checkout" and not just "Added to Cart" unless your goal is cart abandonment, not checkout abandonment.

4️⃣ Suppressed Profiles: If customers opted out of marketing, Klaviyo won't send them emails. Check your suppression list.

5️⃣ Test Mode & Analytics: Run tests in Live Mode and review the Flow Analytics to identify failure reasons.

If none of these resolve the issue, try recreating the flow or checking Shopify-Klaviyo sync settings. 🚀
