Multiple Lead Magnets/Offers: How to set up lists and welcome series

Hi, I’m very new to Klaviyo (switching from Mailerlite) and I’m really struggling to get my head around how to set up my lists and flows.

I have different lead magnets/sign up incentives (e.g a free ebook, an A4 printable, 10% off first order, win $150 voucher etc). Each  of these has their own unique sign up form and then their own separate list.
For each of these, I want to send the subscriber 1-2  emails relevant to the specific lead magnet or offer they signed up to.

Then I want them all to feed into a Generic Welcome Series (which they should only get if they are a new subscriber).

I have read up in the community,  but I can't figure out the best way to do this.

I’d really appreciate any guidance please.

Thanks

Hi @Alana ,

Welcome to Klaviyo and to the community, happy to have you here! Transitioning platforms can feel daunting, but you’re on the right track. To simplify your setup, I recommend using one main list (e.g., “Newsletter Subscribers”) instead of separate lists for each lead magnet. Configure each signup form to add a custom property (e.g., Lead Magnet: Free Ebook or Lead Magnet: 10% Off) to identify the specific incentive.

Create a separate flow for each lead magnet triggered by new subscribers joining the main list. Use flow filters to check for the custom property tied to the respective lead magnet, allowing you to send 1-2 tailored emails.

For your generic Welcome Series, set up a flow triggered by new additions to the main list. Add a filter to exclude subscribers who are already in a lead magnet-specific flow, ensuring they don’t receive duplicate or conflicting emails.

Once a subscriber completes their lead magnet or Welcome Series emails, they will remain in the main list and can start receiving your general campaigns. Test your forms and flows to ensure the correct emails are sent, and monitor their performance to optimize over time.

Let me know if you’d like further clarification or support, and I’d be happy to help!

Hi @Alana,

Welcome to Klaviyo! Setting up multiple lead magnets and organizing your lists and flows can seem a bit overwhelming at first, but it’s entirely doable. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you:

1. Set Up Unique Lists for Each Lead Magnet

  • Create separate lists for each lead magnet (e.g., Free Ebook List, Printable List, etc.).
  • Use signup forms to tag subscribers accordingly and ensure they’re added to the right list.

2. Create Dedicated Flows for Each Lead Magnet

  • For each lead magnet list, set up a flow (e.g., "Free Ebook Follow-Up Flow").
  • Include 1–2 emails that deliver the specific lead magnet and provide additional relevant content.
  • Example:
    • Email 1: Deliver the lead magnet (e.g., “Here’s your free ebook!”).
    • Email 2: Follow up with value-added tips or related offers.

3. Feed Subscribers into a Generic Welcome Series

To ensure they only receive the generic welcome series if they are new subscribers:

  • Create a Segment: Build a segment with conditions like:
    • If someone is in any of the lead magnet lists AND has not received the Welcome Series.
  • Use this segment as the trigger for your Welcome Series Flow.
  • This way, existing subscribers won’t get the generic welcome series again.

4. Avoid Overlapping Flows

To prevent subscribers from receiving multiple flows simultaneously:

  • Use the “Has not been in X Flow” condition when setting up triggers for each flow.
  • Example: If someone is in Free Ebook Flow, exclude them from Printable Flow.

5. Monitor and Optimize

  • Regularly check the performance of your flows in Klaviyo’s analytics dashboard.
  • Adjust timing, content, and segmentation based on engagement.

This setup ensures that your subscribers receive personalized content based on their signup incentive and transition smoothly into your Welcome Series. Let me know if you need help with specific steps!

Hey Alana,

This is a great question and the fact that you're switching to Klaviyo tells me you're serious about scaling your email marketing game. The good news? What you're trying to do isn't just possible; it's exactly what Klaviyo excels at.

Here's the quick fix: Instead of using multiple lists (which can get messy fast), use Segments. Every time someone opts into one of your lead magnets, tag them with a property (e.g., "Signed up for Free eBook"). Then create flows that trigger based on those tags.

After those 1-2 emails, you can use conditional logic to automatically feed them into a "New Subscriber Welcome Series" (but only if they’re new). This keeps your setup clean and scalable while still personalizing the experience for each subscriber.

Start small, but execute fast. Get this setup running and watch your open rates climb. Need more help? Reach out, and we’ll crush it together.

Welcome to Klaviyo! Here’s a step-by-step guide to set up your lists and flows effectively:

### Step 1: Create Lists
1. **Separate Lists for Lead Magnets**:
   - Create a list for each lead magnet (e.g., Free eBook, Printable, Discount, Voucher).
   - This allows you to segment your subscribers easily.

### Step 2: Set Up Signup Forms
1. **Create Unique Signup Forms**:
   - Each lead magnet should have its own signup form linked to the corresponding list.
   - Ensure the forms capture any necessary information (e.g., email, name).

### Step 3: Create Flows for Lead Magnets
1. **Individual Flows**:
   - Create a flow for each lead magnet.
   - Set the trigger to "List Triggered" for the respective list.
   - Add 1-2 emails relevant to that specific offer.

### Step 4: Create a Generic Welcome Series
1. **Welcome Series Flow**:
   - Create a separate flow for your Generic Welcome Series.
   - Set the trigger to "List Triggered" for a new subscriber list (you may need to create this).
   - Ensure this flow is only activated for new subscribers, so they don’t receive it multiple times.

### Step 5: Combine Flows
1. **Ensure Sequential Logic**:
   - In each lead magnet flow, add a condition at the end to check if the subscriber is new. If they are, allow them to enter the Welcome Series.
   - This can be done using a “Conditional Split” in the flow.

### Step 6: Testing
1. **Test Your Setup**:
   - Test the signup forms and flows to ensure everything works as intended.
   - Check that subscribers receive the correct emails based on their sign-up source.

### Additional Tips
- **Use Tags or Custom Properties**: Consider tagging subscribers with the lead magnet they signed up for, which can help in future segmentation.
- **Monitor Performance**: Keep an eye on the performance of your emails and flows to optimize your strategy.

Feel free to ask if you have more questions or need further clarification!

Best regard

Hi @Alana

Thank you for posting in the Community!

I would suggest to setup specific hidden fields and profile properties pr. sign-up form, which you can use to segment your audience in your welcome series.

It could be setup by the following properties:

  1. Sign-up tag - Free ebook
  2. Sign-up tag - A4 printable
  3. Sign-up tag - 10% off first order
  4. Sign-up tag - Win $150 voucher

Hope that helps or else let me know, so we can solve this! :-)

Thanks for checking in Byrne.
I haven’t actually set them up yet, but I think I have it sorted in my head how to do it.
Cheers
