Hi there,

If you are looking to understand how to set up a dedicated sending domain, look no further!
Along with our great guide from the help center: How to set up a dedicated sending domain

We have recorded a video just for you!

1. To start with login to your Klaviyo account and go to Accounts > Settings > Domain & Settings
You will then click on ‘ Get started’ and follow the instructions shown in the video below:

https://app.gong.io/embedded-call?call-id=8523716606823804472&from=191&to=221

2. You will then  need to update your DNS Records in your Site Provider. Here is an example of someone doing this in their site provider (this example is GoDaddy, here is a list of other providers and instructions on how to update)

https://app.gong.io/embedded-call?call-id=8523716606823804472&from=1509&to=1740

3. You will then need to head back to your Klaviyo account to Verify Records

4. Finally, when you are ready you can Apply the Domain, then start sending to your engaged audiences.

Note: You can do steps 1-3, and wait to apply the domain until you are ready.

Important to note:

You don't need to warm a dedicated sending domain UNLESS that domain is less than 30 days old setting up your dedicated sending domain, check your current open and click rates. You can see how to do this here.

Once the dedicated domain is applied you will need to have 2-3 weeks of 20% or higher open rates and at least 1.5% click rates for your Campaigns, by sending to Engaged Audiences. Check out our guide on how to warm your account

Here is a guide on how to troubleshoot, but if you have any issues please reach out to support so they can help you fix this.

What is the process of doing this if you purchased your domain via Shopify directly? How do we manage the DNS records to add the Klaviyo CNAME & TXT values through Shopify?

Hi there! Happy to help.

You can find this Shopify Article which walks through the steps necessary.

To start:

Add a DNS record

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Domains.
  2. Click the domain that you want to configure.
  3. Click Domain settings > Edit DNS settings.
  4. Click Add custom record, and then select the record type that you want to add.
  5. Enter the required details for the record, and then click Confirm.

Hope this helps!

Here is a Loom that walks through how to set up in Klaviyo and get your DNS records that will need to be updated in your Domain Host ( GoDaddy, Google, etc).

This Loom shows how to update the DNS records in your domain, in this example the customer is using a Big Commerce domain, you may want to check out this article for instructions on other examples.

Hi, thanks for sharing the loom video’s!

I see the original gong.io video is about 30 mins and the loom video is 30 sec. Just to make sure, is the video complete or is the other part missing? If so, it would be great if you could upload the whole video.

Thanks!

Great question!

The gong is actually edited down to about 30 seconds, so there aren’t any steps missing.

The steps that you need to take to set up a sending infrastructure with AVADA are:

Step 1: Go to Email settings

On the Dashboard, click on Settings and select Email to access the settings.

Inside, you will see that you already have steps ready to set up sender, verify domains, and add reply-to email. These are all essentials to setting a dedicated sending infrastructure. We can skip adding a sender's name since this is email addresses from your company.

Step 2: Add and verify domain

We have a detailed guide on adding and verifying domain, you can watch the video above or read through the link below:

You can click on the name of your domain provider to find the guide which will show you how to add a domain and update DNS records for each type of domain.

Step 3: Apply your dedicated sending infrastructure

If your domain is successfully verified, you can start sending emails through your own sending infrastructure. At this stage, the "via avada.com" should be not displayed for your email campaigns.

If for some reason the app can't apply the domain, you will see the red marks next to the domain and prompting you to try again. If the problem persists, reach out to our Support Team for assistance.

Step 4: Warm up your sending infrastructure

It's critical to properly warm up a specialized portion of transmitting infrastructure when it's first introduced. When you have a dedicated sending domain or IP address, you're introducing a new element to inbox providers. Each mailbox provider uses a separate algorithm to analyze your sending "fingerprint," which is made up of the following elements:

IP address
Sending domain
Sender email address
Click tracking domain
CDN URL

By default, inbox providers are wary of new sending elements and are more likely to send those emails to the spam bin. If, on the other hand, they observe your sending volume gradually increase while engagement remains high, a strong sending reputation will be formed.

Rachel Gomez
