Safari mobile blocking call to _learnq.push?

@Brian Turcotte I can confirm that this is also happening on shopper’s mobile iOS browsers as well where a client side call to _learnq.push(‘identify’...) for a new user that’s never signed up using a form, doesn’t work and doesn’t create a new klaviyo profile.

Safari mobile blocking call to _learnq.push?

Hi @Brian Turcotte , we can reproduce this by connecting our iPhone to a mac, loading up Safari on the desktop in dev mode and connecting to the mobile safari browser, navigating to the the website on the phone, and then triggering the JS call in the console.   On chrome it works fine, on safari, the call does absolutely nothing.  You guys should be able to reproduce it if you do the same on any test website running klaviyo on your side as well.  Can you please have the engineering team look into this?   As far as the settings on our browser, it’s whatever the default is on Mobile Safari,  If Klaviyo doesn’t function properly with the Apple’s default settings, then this problem is much bigger than us and a workaround needs to be put in place by you guys as it would essentially render Klaviyo non-functional on over 50% of devices out there. Thanks for your help and your quick response -- looking forward to hearing back.

Users randomly getting error when signing up using a form

Hi David,  this is happening on shopper’s browsers so we have no way of checking their console.  That said, we know these are non-corporate shoppers just shopping on their mobile phone’s browsers so there shouldn’t be any VPN or extensions installed because it’s rather difficult to install an extension on a mobile browser.  We’ve seen others report this problem to you guys as well and it’s been going on for a while so we know we’re not alone.  To try to help people like us who are experiencing this problem, do you guys have some kind of mechanism to log submission errors when they occur and can you maybe have some kind of retry mechanism to try to submit the form several times before completely erroring out?

Hi @Brian Turcotte thanks for the response.  Thanks for the link to the documentation, I’m already aware of it and read it through thoroughly and it unfortunately doesn’t offer an insight on how to do a sever-side call to the FB’s tracking API unfortunately.  Thanks for checking with the engineering team.

Can you use _learnq to retrieve custom properties?

Thanks for the reply Brian.  Unfortunately we have a Shopify store and as I’m sure you know, making a server side call is non trivial and involves building a private app as liquid has no mechanism to make a server side call by default.   Totally understand the concern for security risks but maybe a compromise on the client side is to restrict it to the identified user and to also sandbox profile access to just custom properties which would be made available if we as users enable a toggle to allow client side custom properties access in our settings. That way you guys are covered because access is off by default, and we as users need to explicitly enable it with an understanding that we shouldn’t use custom properties with information that we wouldn’t want publically available.  In our case for instance, we would be storing timestamps and whatnot so there’s no worry of data security,

Saving abandoned cart on Added to Cart trigger where checkout not started on Shopify

@retention thanks for the response and for the possible workaround.  I’m curious to see if this cart permalink can also handle custom properties that are collected on the product page as well (our product has customizations).   If you get it prototyped I (and I’m sure a bunch of other people) would be incredibly appreciative to see it!   Question for anyone on the Klaviyo team : Are you guys aware of @retention’s possible solution  If yes to #1, is it on your pipeline, and if so, when can we expect it?

Unfortunately redirecting back to the Product page instead of their actual saved Cart is not a solution at all for products that are personalized as the user loses all of the information they entered and will just bounce.   Will be good to hear from someone from Klaviyo about this to see if they’ve developed (or are developing) a proper solution to actually save the user’s cart with the Added to Cart trigger.
