Hi everyone,

I am very new to Klaviyo and am wanting to create a pop up with a first time subscriber discount.

I’ve gone through the steps in sign up forms and set it all up.

When I test it it sends the discount code to the email address that signs up straight away and then it sends a click to confirm subscription email second.

So does that mean that the person can use the code that came in the first email but then not confirm their email address as requested in the second email so then not be subscribed?

Thanks for your help!

Hi @Virtual Veronica

Thank you for joining our Community Forum and for sharing your first question with us! We are so excited you are here!

Congrats on setting up your first signup form with us! When you are just starting with Klaviyo, it is a great idea to create a signup form like you did , to get customer’s email and confirm they would like to hear more and be added to a list. Once these new users get added to a list like a Newsletter, they can start receiving campaigns, emails, or texts about what’s happening in your company. A great next step is to create an automated ‘Welcome Flow’ that can catch all new users and give them personalized, a first impression your company.

If the list you’re sending to in Klaviyo is single opt-in, it allows you to send message immediately, while double opt-in asks for your permission again. Can confirm whether or not you are using a Klaviyo or third-party signup form and what third-party platform you’re using? It would also help bring clarity to know whether or not your Klaviyo Newsletter is set to single or double opt-in. This Help Center Article, The Guide to the Double Opt-In Process, can help clarify what it is and why it is important to use for your Klaviyo account!

Would you mind providing a screenshot of the subscription confirmation message your customers receive? This can help us narrow who might be the sender!

Thanks for being a Community Forum member!

Thanks for your reply.  We are using Klaviyo to set up a pop up box with the discount on our Shopify website

So the email with the code is being received before the email asking them to confirm their email address.

Hey @Virtual Veronica

Thanks for sharing more info with us so we can get to the bottom of this! Keep in mind, a new Klaviyo profile will be created the moment they fill out a signup form. Once they have been added to Klaviyo through the form fill, it is possible that they are immediately captured in a segment because they meet the segments specific criteria. Segments can dynamically pull profiles from all kinds of lists at all times, even if that’s the moment after they fill out a signup form, before they receive an email confirmation to be added to a list. If you are sending the coupon code via a campaign and sent the campaign to the segment the new profile was pulled into, this could account for why they received the discount email first without confirming their subscription. If you’re sending the coupon code email by a Flow instead, could you verify that the list triggering the flow is the same as the list that connects to the signup form? For instance, if they subscribe to Newsletter, but the coupon is sent to users who subscribe to List X, they could be confirming their subscription for list X and receiving that coupon code, but would still maintain the subscription confirmation from the Newsletter in perpetuity. Finally, can you confirm wether or not the coupon code was created by Klaviyo or within another Ecommerce platform?

I recommend checking out these Help Center Articles on How to Create Segments and Profiles in Klaviyo to further understand how these things work in Klaviyo!

Thank you for your participation,

Best,

Taylor
