Hi Klaviyo Community,

I've been diving deep into Klaviyo’s capabilities recently, and one feature that really stands out to me is email personalisation. The ability to send highly tailored messages based on customer behaviour is a game-changer for eCommerce businesses. But one thing I’ve noticed is that, no matter how great the segmentation and automation are, the quality of the visuals in your emails plays a huge role in overall engagement and conversions. However, maintaining image quality is often a challenge, especially if you’re sourcing images from suppliers or working with older content.

Did this topic or the replies in the thread help you find an answer to your question?

Yes, I agree with you. The quality of creatives can indeed help achieve high engagement and conversions. However, I would recommend compressing them before sending out the email, as large files might increase the loading time in email clients

Great point on visuals in Klaviyo emails! Image quality drives engagement, but file size matters—keep images under 100-200KB (per Klaviyo’s optimization tips) using compression tools like TinyPNG to balance clarity and load speed.

Image Formats for Emails:
PNG: Sharp for logos/icons (supports transparency), but larger files whenever there’s a lot of information, like photos.
JPG: Best for photos (smaller, lossy compression), but no transparency and artifacts around hard lines like words—use 70-80% quality (100-150KB) for product images.
GIF: Ideal for simple animations (e.g., “Sale” banners), but limited colors and often static on some devices (e.g., Outlook, mobile). Ensure the first frame is relevant since many clients show only that. They also don’t have compression between frames so the file size can get big, quickly!

Test visuals in Klaviyo’s builder for responsive rendering. For supplier/old images, optimize with Canva or Adobe Express, they have have some great up-ressing tools now.
