How to organize a messy database?

My clients has a large, unorganized database of nearly 900k profiles, 650k of which are active email profiles. There is no real master list in effect here. Profiles entering the database from varying avenues are added to different lists. I have never organized a database of this size before.  I’m wondering do the same principles of a regular store apply here. Having one master list with everyone on it and various other lists and segments for different sign-up sources etc? For example the client has many brick and mortar locations and capture customers email manually from the store and upload them to klaviyo. Should all of these emails be added to the master list and be automatically added to other lists via a tagging system. How would that work? Also if anyone could outline a process whereby I could begin to wrap my head around the database and get a system in place to clean it up, that would be amazing. Thank you!

Identifying Subscribers by Region

Here’s an interesting one. One of our clients had their multiple regional stores connected to the same Klaviyo account, vis-a-vis klaviyo.js snippet. Turns out, we’ve been collecting subs from Australia and Canada in addition to US subscribers. We’re trying to filter them and put them into the correct accounts, so we’ve created a segment of people where the country is either set to Canada, or phone number region is Canada. Is there any other way you would identify subs?

My client is beginning to implement in store email collection for customers. They’d like to use the data to send them flows to nurture the relationship with the customer. For context the brands sells wollen jumpers, mainly to American tourists visiting Europe. When the customer makes a purchase they choose from three exclusive options. Suspicious SPAM adresses signing up

Hello,Recently, I've been getting these computer-generated sign-ups like:XXXX+sdf8yf@gmail.com and their locations are like weird international places.Screenshot from a segment I built (with some deletions for privacy)My question is are they spammers or is this the new privacy feature that apple users. Or VPN features?I know that the + sign is a way of redirecting your emails within Gmail, not sure if it works in other systems.Because I have been getting a few and wither way it sucks for working out legit customers.PS: I know I can activate double opt-in to prevent spam.

Automatically Suppress Profile

Hi all, We have an issue where we have a very large contact list, however, are only actively emailing a small portion of them. Is there a way, within the Klaviyo UI and not through API, to automatically suppress profiles that have been inactive for 30+ days, so we don’t get billed for them? Thanks

Confirmation email is not sent after signing to a list

Hello,I am using Klaviyo integration in Channelize via the API key. There is a form for people to add their email and join the list. With single opt-in everything works fine.But with double opt-in, users never receive the confirmation email and therefore are not added to the list. (And I have checked spams etc)Any hint of what to do to solve this?Thank you

Hello everyone,I'm facing a situation with my email marketing strategy and need some advice. Here's the scenario:I'm sending out emails to subscribers who have opted in to receive alerts for new blog posts. In my blogs, I've categorized content into four different segments based on audience relevance. Now, I want to include these segments in the email so subscribers can choose which type of content they want to receive in the future.My question is, how can I generate links for each segment so that when a subscriber clicks on a specific link in the email, they are automatically added to that segment and the email workflow begins?

Is there a way to do a bulk update of custom properties on all active profiles?

I’m updating my segments according to desired email frequency. How can I do a bulk edit on all existing profiles to add the default frequency of ‘weekly’ on all active profiles so they are not missed?

Integration Error - Duplicated Active On Site Metric

We have implemented an 'Active on Site' metric triggered through the API on our SuiteCommerce site. However, we recently added the following script tag:<script type="text/javascript" async="" src="https://static.klaviyo.com/onsite/js/klaviyo.js?company_id=..."></script>This script is used to track when users enter the site from an email link. Unfortunately, it generates another 'Active on Site' metric in Klaviyo.Both metrics are named identically. Is there a way to combine them into a single metric for both actions?We attempted to pass the metric ID in the metric object at the 'Create Event' API Endpoint, but it resulted in an 'invalid parameter' error."

Hey is there a way to delete a profile via an API call ?i am able to unsubscribe the profile from the list but i still dont know how to delete the user profile. and the api page doesnt give me any information regarding that part.

Trying to set up sunset segment, but only 3 in it and they've both been active this week, there must be somthing wrong with my definition.

I’ve tried to follow this guide to set up a sunset segment, https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017518492  but  I must be doing something wrong with my segment definition, I have followed what the guide suggests  using 90 days in stead of 72 days. But when the segment is created there are only 3 people in it. I also cannot find the property suggested “Created a profile” so I used “subscribed to email” instead. Any help very welcome ?

One profile in multiple flows

Hello,I’m looking to create an automated flow to follow up with new users that submit the signup waiver for our gym and take a trial class.I want all new user signups to be added to a welcome series flow. I want to create an additional flow for users that were referred by a specific channel such as Instagram or referred by a friend for example.What would be the best way to organize the profiles and flows to accomplish this?This is what I’m thinking:Waiver signup form has an option to select “referred by channel” Add custom property to profiles for “referred by channel” All signups are added as profiles to a master list “all waiver signups” Profiles are segmented/tagged by specific referral channel (eg. Instagram, referred by friend, etc.) Create “welcome series” for all signups Create a separate “welcome series” made for a specific channel Profiles added to the “all waiver signups” list enter “Welcome Series”  flow Profiles tagged with specific channel enter the flow designed for that

Add new top-of-funnel subscribers to general list or special ToF list?

Hi - Looking for advice about the best way to handle a top-of-funnel lead magnet please and thank you. I'm creating a top-of-funnel email marketing flow. It will kick off with a visitor submitting an embedded form on a specific landing page. We get their email address and send an email with a link to a PDF download. They'll get a few more emails over several days aimed at introducing and explaining a product they've expressed interest in. I have a general subscriber list in my Shopify site and send email to it weekly. But I'm thinking it's better to separate the email addresses I collect thru this ToF form into a separate list. Is this correct? Or is it better to create a ToF segment in my general subscriber list and send this particular flow only to the ToF folks - and then switch them all to be general subscribers once the flow is completed?We have a discount teaser running on our site that subscribes people to our general list. I can imagine that a ToF subscriber might subscribe to

Segment List Missing Contacts

Hi there,I have a segment filtered for all customers who have ordered at least once from my Shopify store. I sent this segment an email a few weeks ago. Now that I want to send another email, I only see a few customers. It looks like the segment is only showing customers that have ordered from my store since the last email was sent. I can’t figure out how to get all the customers who have ordered back into the segment.Any ideas?

Multiple Unbounce landing pages and linking to separate Klaviyo lists

Hello,I am trying to figure out a work-around for Unbounce and Klaviyo. I currently have them integrated using the webhook but any additional Unbounce landing pages I create all go to the same Klaviyo List. I would like them to be separated somehow. Any ideas on how to do this?Thanks!!

Updating LIST property using update_property_link

I am trying to add a value to a custom property, which should be a LIST.Unfortunately, the list is overwritten by the value I entered in the link - instead of the value being appended to the list.I have googled and searched this forum, finding some older posts about this - and no solution. Hopefully something has happened during the 2-3 years since last post about it :) Is it in anyway possible to add a value to a property of type LIST when clicking a link in an email? I looked into the flow solution, using segments. But you can’t trigger a flow when a profile has been updated so … Any ideas?

How to implement subscriber preferences into overall email strategy?

I want to allow my customers to update their email preferences to suit their needs as my clients brand is a seasonal product. When the customers update their preferences, how then do I adjust my sending so that it suits their preferences?I’d like to know how this works with respect to both flows and campaigns please. How can I limit the number of results in API response?

I am using the get_lists API from the latest version with revision: 2024-02-15, and wondering why there is no option to limit the no of results I want in the API response. I nowhere found in documentation about how many results it will return by default. Ideally, the users should be allowed to put the batch size as per their requirement (under a max-batch size). Looking forward to hear back on this.Thanks.

How to avoid fake new susbribers? Double opt-in enabled even

Hello,My shopify store has the typical sign-up form, the form is linked with a Klaviyo newsletter list, and when new subscriber, Klaviyo sends a welcome mail with a discount coupon, up to here no rocket science.The double opt-in is enabled in Shopify's notifications,  however in Klaviyo's newsletter list don't.The problem is since some time ago there are bots subscribing and catching coupons, How is possible if the double opt-in is enable? Please, let me know if you had the same problem and how you fixed it.Many thanks in advance,Miguel

Notification when subscriber updates preferences

Hi! I revised my preferences page to allow subscribers to choose what they would like to receive (email and/or SMS), as well as a custom property field for any notes they would like to submit.Two things:I tested this with one of my personal accounts by adding my phone number and subscribing to SMS...but that change wasn’t made in the profile - the phone number was not added to the profile nor was the profile added to my SMS list. Any thoughts as to why (or is this functionality something that isn’t possible from the preferences page? Is there a way to receive a notification when a subscriber updates his or her preferences?Thanks!Nan
