What are Klaviyo’s SPF and DKIM records?F.A.Q.

Klaviyo automatically applies the necessary SPF (sender policy framework) and DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail)records when you have a dedicated sending domain set up for your account. When the CNAME records are added to your DNS, a subdomain is created and delegated over to Klaviyo to control and make use of. At this point, Klaviyo automatically adds the necessary SPF/DKIM records to set your account up to send emails using your own dedicated domain. Placed order vs. Ordered Product Events: What's the difference?

If you have an ecommerce integration added to your Klaviyo account, you’ll see both Placed Order and Ordered Product events in your account. But what is the difference and why does Klaviyo include both?Placed OrderEvery order in your e-commerce store will generate one Placed Order event for the entire order. This event will include all line items, the value of the order, the categories or collections the products are from, item count, and other important information that pertains to the entire order. Placed Order value will equate to the total order value, including shipping and any applied discounts.Ordered ProductOn the other hand, Ordered Product events occur for each individual item ordered. DMARC stands for “Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance” and it is a policy designed to give domain owners the ability to protect their domain from unauthorized use, commonly known as email spoofing. A DMARC policy allows a sender to indicate that their messages are protected by SPF and/or DKIM, and tells an inbox provider the actions to take if either of those authentication methods do not pass.  Inbox providers could either place the emails in the junk folders, block the message outright, or let the emails pass as normal depending on the policy in place. DMARC removes guesswork about the receiver’s handling of these failed messages, while limiting or eliminating the domain owner’s exposure to potentially fraudulent and harmful messages. Klaviyo Attributed Revenue Metrics

On the overview dashboard, the preset cards “Conversion by Channel” and “Conversion Summary” show Klaviyo Attributed Revenue. The numbers there do not match up with figures reported by metrics like Placed Order, Ordered Product, Fulfilled Order, etc. How is this calculated? Additionally, when I try to create a custom report for one of the metrics mentioned above and group them by Attributed Message/Flow (to get metrics for campaigns and flows respectively), I get a row with an empty Attributed Message/Flow, and the Attributed Message/Flow Name is “Unknown ()” What is this attributed to? I thought it was referring to the unselected grouping (e.g. Unknown refers to Message when grouped by Flow) but the numbers don’t add up.

Resolving descrepancies between Klaviyo analytics and Google Analytics

Klaviyo is reporting that one of my campaigns has generated 16 orders resulting in $518.30 in revenue. The same campaign in Google Analytics is reporting 15 transactions resulting in $455.38 in revenue.Klaviyo is reporting 1 more order and $62.92 more than Analytics.My first thought was that a user didn’t get redirected to the thank you page or the user may have opted out of Google Analytics tracking them. I don’t think this is actually the case as I don’t have an order in Shopify totally $62.92.How have you reconciled analytics been Klaviyo and Google Analytics? Are you resigned to the fact that the two will never match? Is there a percentage of error that you’re willing to accept between the two? Any ideas how where the $62.92 discrepancy could be coming from?Thanks in advance!

How can I avoid the Gmail Promotions Tab for my Klaviyo Flows?

What is the best practice to land on mail inbox tab for gmail users? I tested my abandoned cart flow and all mails landed on promotions tab. I have low open rate and I’m almost sure it is b’coz of this ( When I was sending directly from Shopify, I had better open rate).So, Can anyone tell how can I do this? GA4 Source/medium discrepancy and UTM Param Set-up Confusion

Hi, I’d opened this topic on GA forum but hadn’t got any responses. First, I will share what I wrote on this topic. We have an issue with the data coming from Klaviyo. I will try to demonstrate with some screenshots. I can assure you that all the UTMs on Klaviyo correctly working. We have some campaigns have been sent as well as automated flows sending regularly. Though I am able to review campaigns on GA, I cannot see the orders/revenue coming from flows. Plus, it shows the source as "Unassigned". When the revenue comes from Flows it was showing the source as "Direct". However, I resolved this since the problem based on the url ending with "/" slash. Now, this one is fixed but we just got an order from the flow but it shows source/medium as Klaviyo / campaing. It needs to be klaviyo / flow. Also, the rest of the problems still going on.     And then I will explain what I go through currently.  I’ve just changed the default UTM’s by referring to these 2 topics. You can see the default

Growth reports by List/Segment

Clients in general like to know how many emails are on their list and how many have been added over given time. I am aware of Growth reports for each list, but also that they are not available for segments, and since there is no general report, it would be impossible for me to screenshot or walk them through each list’s growth report weekly. I am looking to give clients a birds-eye snapshot of weekly growth by key Lists or Segments, something that should be available in Analytics dashboard, but I just cannot find it. I need to show how many subscribers added / removed from the total of key segments / lists by week or month. I would be happy to use custom reports with my own graphing software, but there’s no “All Time” timeframe, so there’s no way to get an accurate total, and it’s my understanding that “Subscribed to List” does not include manual imports or quick adds.

How to add a NS recordy type in Shopify to set up a branded domain

Hi, I am not sure if I am missing something here but I am trying to set up my branded sending domain. My website is built in Shopify, Klaviyo recommends the dynamic routing option which then asks me to enter a TXT record (no problem) and 4 NS records. What is an NS record? There is no option to add this in Shopify. Thanks in advance for your help!

Bounces t-online.de

Hi there - we experience huge problems with bounces to all @t-online.de address (which is Germany’s biggest online provider, hence a big problem for as as Germany is our key market). Essentially all e-mails to @t-online.de bounce for several months already, and we now have several thousand suppressed profiles because of that.I contacted Klaviyo several times and they always say they will look into it (and trying one more time now), however the problem persists.Does anyone have any advice on how to best address this? Is this something Klaviyo needs to fix (i.e. is Klaviyo getting blocked), or is our domain the problem? Note we just started to set up our own domain in Klaviyo (have added DNS accordingly), but no results yet.Also does anyone know how I can un-suppress the profiles in bulk?Thanks for the help, any advice highly appreciated!

Is there a way to see a heat map of an email campaign?

Hi, I know that Klaviyo provides analytics for the links tracked in my email campaigns (Campaigns » Link Activity). However, I’d like to know if there’s a way to see the heat map of a specific email campaign. I might use the same link across different sections of my newsletter (header, image and CTA for example) and the link activity will only show me the total clicks. What if I want to know where people are clicking the most (header, main image, text, CTA, footer, etc.)? Are there any software/tools available that could help me with this? Thanks!

Can Suppressed Profiles Re-subscribe?

To help improve deliverability, I am adding contacts which have gone through the WinBack flow and still not engaged to suppressed profiles. Before suppressing them, I am sending them a goodbye email with a link to re-subscribe.If an unengaged subscriber is added to the suppressed profiles list, can they re-subscribe if they have decided they want to receive emails again?

"Viewed Product" Event not showing in activity feed

I have had the viewed product code setup since february and only have received 2 events since then. I know its not a cookie problem because I have since had over 200k website visits and I know its not a web tracking problem because when I test it, it says “data received”. What can be the problem?

What should we do about IOS 17 Blocking UTM Tracking in the near future?

Hello Klaviyo community!I hope everyone’s having a great day!The emergence of user data protection systems from IOS 14 and 15 made tracking and measuring KPIs difficult. And UTM Tracking - a way to track the effectiveness of marketing campaigns by adding parameters to links, helped us solve this problem. I love that Klaviyo did a great job with UTM tracking. This feature has been working very well and helps us to measure the effectiveness of Flows and Campaigns.However, iOS 17 now has a new feature called Link Tracking Protection, which automatically removes tracking parameters from links that are clicked on in Mail, Messages. Which Email Address for Newsletter

Hello GuysI’m a bit overwhelmed and confused, with which is the best email adress for sending newsletter, double Opt-in Mails and Flows.So, my current situation is, that we will maintain several Ecom Stores in the future and for each of these stores will have seperate E-Mail Adresses: ex. info@storename.comMy Idea is to warm up these adresses first to avoid spam filters.Now, i’m wondering what is the best solution for sending all the E-Mails that i mentioned above. How to track which links are clicked on an email

Is there any way to see which links in an email lead to conversions if the URLs for each link is the same?For example, I link to the home page in a few places on an email, but how do I know which link is the one leading to conversions? Is it the homepage link in the header, at the footer, or elsewhere? Is there a way to differentiate link clicks if they’re to the same URL?

Active on site tracking and View product tracking

I’ve added the snippets to my site for active on site and viewed product tracking and I am getting the ‘green’ CTA saying data is received but then not getting any data coming through onto site despite people being on site and I’ve checked the tracking myself.Any ideas, will this be because I am using the free plan? Thanks
