Hi everyone, it looks to me as though the “Source code” option has disappeared from the text panel. Has there been a UI change and has it been moved?

@StefaniaP hey there, welcome to the Community forum, I love your name haha

Sadly, Klaviyo have recently removed the option to edit the source code in all text blocks. This is slowly being rolled out across all accounts (not everywhere at once).

After the update, the only way to edit the source code will be to add an HTML block (instead of a text block) and make any edits there.

Hopefully this helps!

Hi Stefan, your name isn’t half bad either! ^_^

Thank you so much for your feedback; I really can’t understand why to change features that work perfectly well, but at least I’ve come to terms with it!

I hope to see it back one day,
ciao!

Exactly! It was working just fine and this change means a lot of extra work for us.

The communication about why it was changed is not very clear.

Just an update for anyone holding out hope: I officially messaged Klaviyo support about this.

The agent was super helpful and sweet, but confirmed that the source code toggle inside text blocks is gone for good due to their new editor upgrade.

He logged it as feedback for the product team, but for now, we are officially forced to become full-time HTML developers inside the new "Code Block" just to fix a typo in a paragraph.

Rip to our fast workflows, but hey, at least we're getting better at reading raw code! 🙃 Carey on, soldiers.

This update makes no sense at all! I often used to jump into the source code for a text block to make tweaks. Now I have to create an HTML block and manually add ALL the formatting if I want to do that?

@StefanUE @GabbyEsposito I’d like to know what ‘benefit’ this specific ‘upgrade’ is meant to deliver to users…

Same here!

For your information Klaviyo: we are now unable to edit any of our flows, because all of them were built using the code editor. On top of that, we can no longer create any campaigns with our custom template, even though this template worked perfectly before.

I find it absolutely unacceptable that the code editor has simply been removed without a proper alternative. HTML is the foundation of every email, and any serious email marketer or designer relies on being able to edit HTML when needed.

Converting universal text blocks into HTML blocks does not solve the issue. Klaviyo only allows one HTML block per campaign, which means we cannot stack multiple HTML blocks underneath each other. This was possible with text blocks before, because we could edit the HTML inside each block using the code editor.

So right now, we are completely blocked. We cannot properly edit existing flows, and we cannot build new campaigns using our custom template.

What exactly are you going to do to fix this problem?

Are you going to bring back the code editor? Or at least give customers the option to enable it in their account settings?

This change has directly broken our workflow and is seriously impacting our ability to send emails.
