Hi All

As we would like to segment our list and know which brand and product type has been ordered we have created custom properties within profile. For pop ups we ask for profile information eg favourite brand and product type. However we cant seem to work out how to get the API to send this information when an order is placed. We would appreciate your help/direction.

(In our case as an eyewear store we need to know whether customer is interested in glasses or sunglasses and also which brand is of interest as the type of customer interested in Oakley sunglasses may be quite different from a customer looking for Tiffany eyeglasses with prescription.)

Hi @SeanMcC

Thanks for sharing your question with the Community

Our developer portal has a plethora of resources that can send you in the right direction for getting your metrics API set up so you can receive your customer’s order details if you don’t have an in-house integration already sending this information to your account. Additionally, if you are already retrieving customer’s favorite brand and product types via your form, you can segment off of those results immediately after your form is published and users submit their answers!

Thanks for participating in the Community!

Hi @SeanMcC do you mean you'd like to send the information to Klaviyo about a specific order?
If so the identify API (or now /client/profiles in v2) would allow you to add profile properties to a profile or the track api (or now /client/events in v2) would allow you to add events to the timeline of a profile

Hi @Omar I am hoping that when an order is placed on shopify that the customers profile custom properties are updated in our case brand is updated with shopifys field ‘product vendor’ and our customer property glasses or sunglasses is updated with shopify field ‘product type’. This will then allow us to segment our customers more effectively eg oakle sunglasses customers are quitre different to those buying moleskine frame with prescription lenses..

@SeanMcC I'd check which data you already have available in Klaviyo based on previous orders.

If this data is not custom coded it should be ok.
If the products are within a specific collection that separates them based on your requirements this would also be ok.

If you have data missing you will need to find a (more custom) way to send this additional data to Klaviyo.

Hope this helps
