Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone can help me with an issue I've encountered.

My last two sends to a segment of Australia and New Zealand subscribers had a very high number of bounces.

Most of the bounce reasons were listed as 'content issue,' but I have no idea what that means.

I can't seem to find any specific information on this in Klaviyo, and we haven’t changed anything with our email content.

What’s strange is that the other emails we’ve sent (which have very similar content) didn’t bounce.

The only difference is that we split our sends based on geography. Has anyone experienced this before or have any insights on what might be causing this?

Hey @GV123! Totally understand deliverability issues like this can be frustrating.  Unfortunately the answer isn’t super satisfying; all inbox providers have their own set of algorithmic rules that determine what “spam” is. A content issue rejection means something in your email flagged enough of these filters to be rejected. You’ll never know exactly what it was because if ESPs were transparent about their rules, then actual spammers would know exactly how to get around them. Because of this, sometimes you can get falsely flagged, too.

On the bright side, these algorithms are constantly changing. If these spikes are isolated to only a few domains once in a while and your campaign is under the recommended 1% bounce rate, I wouldn’t sweat it.

Hello @GV123  Can you check if these emails are bouncing specifically for business accounts? Large businesses often use email security platforms like Proofpoint, which may reject emails that don’t meet certain criteria.

Hello @GV123

I have received an issue like this when sending emails and SMS for my clients. I believe the reason your email has bounced back from people’s inboxes in these regions may be because of their own anti-spam legislations.

Your message might have failed because the recipient server rejected your message.

Read what the legislation states and how to overcome it by clicking onto the attached links below.

New Zealand:

I hope this helps your question.

Hi @Will at Verve thanks for responding

Is it normal for a server to start suddenly rejecting messages? This was not a problem before.

What did you guys do to solve it?
