Does my from address need to match the sender domain?

Hello, 

I am seeing there is inconsistencies between the from address, and sending domain. I am also experiencing some deliverability issues and a possible blacklisted IP and Domain. Would this be why I am seeing those things despite being set up on a dedicated domain?

 

Should it be marketing@kandaovr.com to fix the issue and not cause any red flags for inconsistencies?

Great question! Looking at the headers, I can see FROM domain (usa.kandaovr.com) & Return-Path domain (mailed by domain) are matching and aligned.

The DKIM header domain (signed by domain) is also signing the root domain (kandaovr.com), which looks correct. Is DMARC getting passed and which policy is being used?

So, to answer your first question - I don’t think so there’s any domain misalignment issue that’s resulting into any deliverability issues you’re facing.

Couple of followup questions -

  1. Since when you’re seeing deliverability issues?
  2. Are you facing deliverability issues on a specific ISP like Gmail OR across all ISPs?
  3. What kind of blacklisting issues you’re seeing? How are you monitoring domain & IP getting blacklisted?
  4. What GPT is telling you with regards to reputation?
  5. Have you changed anything in your sending practices or email acquisition sources?

  1. Since when you’re seeing deliverability issues?
    1. I’m seeing semi high bounce rate over 1%, almost 2
    2. Spam rate needs attention according to Klaviyo as well. This is deliverability from the latest campaign sent out.

       

    3. However, we did a test on MailGenius (let me know if there a better source to trust or if any of this is actually true) and it told me about some blacklisting and a DKIM issue. You can see that here: https://app.mailgenius.com/spam-test/deea9a

    1. Bounce rate is coming from ‘Other’

    1. I have recently gotten a hold of this account as a new client so we haven’t done much sending. The difference would probably be they haven’t sent in quite a while. 
    2. They have upload quite a few manual lists from trade shows that are not explicit sign ups which seem to be more than likely where it is bouncing.

Few concerns that I can see though:

  1. Manual list building from trade shows (offline) is a not recommended. Chances are many of the email ids are spam traps, made up email ids, catch all, etc. and definitely not opted in. As I can check their website (https://www.kandaovr.com/), newsletter & registration signup forms are already hosted, shouldn’t they be targeting the opt-ins?
  2. As per Mailgenius, the domain & IP is listed in Spamhaus (probably no one would want to get listed in Spamhaus), but if I can check the domain on Spamhaus, I couldn’t find the listing. Can you trigger a test email on my test ids: mohsinfarooquiwork@gmail.com, kbxo1m98ijwq@kbxscore.com? Would like to dig further and get back.
  3. Unsubscribe rates & spam complaint rates are high but are they doing B2B or B2C mailing?
  4. If they aren’t sending consistently or regularly, that could also be a contributor to current deliverability issues. Maintaining regular sending cadence is important.

@inboxingmaestro Sure, thanks for responding. I have sent over a test to those IDs.

They are primarily focused on the US site, https://us.kandaovr.com/ which is where the Klaviyo opt-ins are located. https://www.kandaovr.com/ is the international site. 

They are focused on B2C with their meeting series and QooCam since that product is more relevant to consumers. The rest of their products are more B2B focused as they are much higher priced items. 

Until recently, they have not been sending often so we have started back with consistent sends as of recent.
