I'm looking to identify our best customers and understand their common traits. Here's what I have in mind, and I'd appreciate any step-by-step guidance:

  1. Data Source: Should I use BigCommerce, Klaviyo, or both to find this information? How do the data points from each platform complement each other?

  2. Metrics to Focus On:

    • Order Frequency: How often are these customers making purchases?
    • Number of Orders: What’s the total number of orders placed?
    • Lifetime Value: What is their total spend?
  3. Steps to Identify Top Customers:

    • In BigCommerce: What reports or tools should I use?
    • In Klaviyo: How do I segment these customers based on the above metrics?
  4. Analyzing Common Traits: Once identified, what methods or tools can I use to analyze these customers' behaviors, preferences, or demographics/psychographics within Klaviyo?

  5. Actionable Insights: How can I use this information to create targeted campaigns and strategies to attract and retain more customers like them?

Any detailed steps, strategies, or best practices you can share would be incredibly helpful!

Thanks in advance!

Hey @GV123

Data Source : once you integrate these platforms, you can get almost everything in Klaviyo. You can use Klaviyo for detailed segmentation and analyzing customer behaviors, preferences, and demographics. Klaviyo's powerful segmentation and email marketing tools can help you target specific customer groups based on the data from BigCommerce.

Metrics to Focus On - Again just create segments in klaviyo to get data about Order frequency, number of orders, LTV etc (I have added the definition in the next point)

Steps to Identify Top Customers

In BigCommerce:
Customer Reports: Navigate to the "Reports" section. Select "Customers" to access various reports related to customer activities. Generate reports on order frequency, number of orders, and total spend.

Customer Groups: Create customer groups based on the metrics above. This allows for easier segmentation and targeting within BigCommerce.

In Klaviyo: create segments with below definition

  • Order Frequency: "Placed Order at least X times".
  • Number of Orders: "Placed Order count is greater than Y".
  • Lifetime Value: "Total Spend is greater than Z".

Analyzing Common Traits:  I am not sure what you mean by methods, because this is specific to the product you sell and where you sell them, this varies for each niche and depends on a lot of things, but creating such segments will help you get a clearer idea on which segments to include in your campaigns and when.

Actionable insights: Example - If you have a brick and mortar store and you have an upcoming festival, you can just create a segment of profiles whose location is in the area of your store and give them a ‘store only discount’ or announce a discount available for your store only. Again this is just one scenario, it could be anything. now you should Periodically review your customer segments and update your strategies based on new data. you can use data to personalize emails and promotions, enhancing customer engagement and loyalty. Continuously test different strategies and measure their effectiveness.

I hope this helps

Cheers
