I have just over 5000 profiles in my klaviyo audience but only 25 of them actually subscribed to my emails and are receiving email marketing. (there are a ton of spammy email addresses from china and russia and those fake one-time-only email addresses consisting of random numbers and letters)

I also have not made even 100 sales so there were very few transactional emails send and even abandoned cart emails were sent only to 38 people.

why is klaviyo telling me to add a branded sending domain?

Also in my settings under account -> organization my default sender email address is info@raysandriches.com (i use zoho, not gmail or yahoo)  would it still have the “sent “via klaviyomail.com” disclaimer”?

also i read thi https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000357752 and this https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/9042531198747 I also read shopify help articles and asked chat GPT but i am utterly overwhealmed iwth this technical stuff and I don’t want to make any mistakes that mess up my shopify or my ability to send emails

Hi @Lucia937

Thank you for posting in the community.

Even if you are only sending to a few accounts it is recommended to ensure that you have a dedicated sending domain set up as well as a DMARC record. While it might seem super technical and difficult, it is actually quite easy to set up. All you have to to is choose your subdomain and Klaviyo will provide you with the DNS records that can be inserted directly into your DNS provider. After publishing the records, you simply have to activate your new sending domain in Klaviyo and do a warm up of your new domain to ensure a good domain reputation. In short, that means sending only to engaged profiles that you can easily set up with segmentation.

If you have further questions I can recommend this other thread that is available in the community:

I hope this helps :-)

HI @annasophiefc

thank you for your reply.
But if my default sender email address is info@raysandriches.com is that not a branded sending domain?

I appreciate your help
Manuela

Hi @Lucia937

Your sending domain and branded sending domain will need to match to ensure proper deliverability.

Your dedicated sending domain would look (depending on your chosen subdomain - in this case ‘news’) would look something like this example:

So for you it would be news.raysandriches.com, that would be your signed sending domain.

I hope this helps :-)

HI @annasophiefc please bear with me,

I signed up to my brands email ist with another one of my private email addresses (to see how my emails & flows appear to my customers) and this is what I see in my inbox:

and when I open the email:

so the problem is the “via shared.klaviyomail.com”-part ? is that correct?
so the fact that the first part says “info@raysandriches.com” and not for example info.raysandriches@GMAIL.com, is not enough, correct?

I’m an absolute noob so please forgive my stupid questions 😅

Adding a branded sending domain in Klaviyo improves your email deliverability, removes the "via klaviyomail.com" label for professionalism, and helps prevent emails from landing in spam folders. It authenticates your emails using your own domain (e.g., raysandriches.com), enhancing trust and engagement with recipients.

thank you for your help @talhahussain appreciate it! 🙂 I actually managed to set it up after some trial and error. definitely not easy for someone who has never done anything technical like this before, but you gotta do what you gotta do. 😄
