This could be a good way to increase engagement on the first open email. The automated email could contain an increased discount or another benefit

While we can’t automate a response off of a reply, you can use the “Opened email” event that is triggered for a specific campaign or flow to create an automated series of emails to follow up ie “Opened Email X” and “Has NOT Placed Order in X days”.
