Hi all,

We are new to Klaviyo and are in the process of setting up automated email flows.

We have set up an automated email so that if someone either subscribes to our newsletter either via the footer or via a pop-up that appears, they receive an x% discount code to email.

We are just wondering - as part of checkout, we have selected for Klaviyo to collect customer emails. Does this in effect also register them for the newsletter? The scenario we are concerned about is that someone does not sign up for our newsletter either via the footer or pop-up, but registers as part of the checkout process, then a few mins after check out, receives a x% discount code - which wouldn’t be an ideal customer experience.

Is our understanding correct? Is there a way to not trigger the “Thank you for signing up” email if it is done via the checkout page?

Many thanks

Hi there @andre199017 ,

Thanks for sharing with the Community.

This would depend on integration. For example, when using opt-in vis Shopify, you can set the list the Profiles are being used to Single Opt-in.  That will prevent confirmation emails from Klaviyo to be sent. This can be change on the Lists settings page.

Emails can also be disabled on the Shopify side, if Double Opt-in to a list is preferred. Here is our guide on How to Disable Notification Emails Sent by Shopify.

I would look into disabling email notifications for your integration. As well as looking at the conditions for what allows customers to be added to a list where they are sent a coupon code.
