Hi, everyone!

I need help regarding growing our email list. Our list has dwindled over the last few month, so we want to get it up before BFCM and the holidays.

But here’s what you need to know. We’re not really a Shopify store. We mainly operate on Amazon and we track out email metrics through attribution links. We have a Shopify website, but we redirect them to Amazon. This made it hard for us to collect emails and impossible for us to leverage collecting emails when customers check-out.

We’ve tried doing giveaways before and freebies, but we found that most people in our list are not buying anything, they only wanted free stuff.

I was wondering if any of you have any input as to how to grow our email list and attract high-quality leads that actually buy from us.

Thank you!

Hi @EzraaaaNPC - I hear you on the low purchase intent nature of email entries to a giveaway. A lot of times it comes down to giveaway strategy. Rather than abandoning giveaways to grow your list, think about how you can leverage your existing VIP customers with an internal email list giveaway in which they get bonus entries for referring friends to the giveaway. A low-cost sweepstakes platform like ViralSweep allows for this and integrates well with Klaviyo. Entrants can also gain entries for social follows and SMS sign up (well, it’s really just rewards clicking through to those things) so it’s also a good way to get your VIPs more involved on other channels.

Since it sounds like you are mostly selling and fulfilling through amazon, have you explored the Klaviyo<>Amazon buy with prime integration to make the most of your data collection? It could be a worthwhile avenue to explore.

You can also take advantage of lead generation through your social channels into Klaviyo. Here is how to get set up for Meta leads into Klaviyo - https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/14318416590235

Lastly, with BFCM coming up, there are many ways to grow your list through pop ups and other early access / exclusive sign up form tactics. October is the perfect time to make the most of these strategies. Be sure to dive into the BFCM hub to learn more - https://www.klaviyo.com/solutions/bfcm

Hi Mike @SwannyVT

Thanks for taking the time to respond and for including helpful resources! I’ll check them out. 😊

But I also want to know your thoughts on insert cards? We’re planning to place insert cards in every product with a QR code and a bit of copywriting regarding joining our email list. We also placed QR codes on our boxes, though it’s still relatively new so I can’t say for sure if it has been effective.

Hi @EzraaaaNPC - QR code inserts and placements can be a good way for incremental growth, but not necessarily large volume. Like list growth in general it is strategy dependent. Most of the people receiving your product have been through the email sign up decision phase of their journey. Maybe think about it as an SMS growth strategy as that can be harder to come by for new customers.

You can think about direct mail postcards with QR codes for winback offers. There are QR companies that integrate well with Klaviyo for more insight into scan behavior and data flow - like Swapt, built by a former Klaviyo engineer. And direct mail companies like PostPilot.

Hope that helps!

Hi @SwannyVT, most of the people who buy our products haven’t been through the email sign-up since we’re mainly an Amazon store. 😞 It’s harder for us to generate leads from people who are our actual customers.

We’ll check out direct mail postcards though! Thank you

@EzraaaaNPC - yes, apologies! That makes more sense. Then it sounds like a good place to focus for inserts and direct mail post purchase / winback offers to capture more emails and SMS via a redemption mechanic. Hope it goes well!
