Hi @karenachi,
Welcome to the Klaviyo community and thank you for your question.
As you have already identified some of the numbers in here aren’t looking too healthy. For me the main issues are the open rate (6.3%) and the bounce rate (also 6.3%).
A few questions straight off the bat:
- Have you been using Klaviyo for a long time, and have been sending out consistently?
- What segmenetation has happened for this campaign (ie. purchased recently etc)
- What are the top bounce reasons
I would recommend looking at the key deliverability report in Klaviyo (how-to here). This report will show you guided actions of what you can do to improve deliverability.
I would say a decent chunk of your emails are ending up in SPAM filters so there’s definitely some work to be done, and the hub is a good place to start!
Let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks
David
Hello David,
Thank you for your response.
This was my second campaign sent through Klaviyo, and I did not apply any segmentation. Most of the bounces were due to Gmail blocking the emails, citing a low reputation of the sending domain and labeling the content as suspicious.
Could you advise on steps to improve our domain's reputation or other best practices to enhance deliverability? Here’s the bounce message for reference: “Gmail has detected that this message is suspicious...”
Thank you for your assistance.
Hello @DavidV,
I was hoping too to get a keen eye on:
- How can we increase sales from email marketing?
- How can we track email marketing performance through Google Analytics?
- How can we optimize automated campaigns on Klaviyo?
- What are best practices to follow?
- Unsubscribe issue is still pressing you can see below screenshot I think this is affecting email deliverability
Hi @karenachi,
Apologies for the delay in getting back on this - I was out of the office traveling last week!
Firstly on the topic of deliverability, this is a huge topic but the most important thing here is to warm up your account carefully as you would otherwise harm your sender reputation. Because you have a decent number of people in your database (19k+).
There are a TON of Klaviyo resources around this but I would recommend following this course first (37 minutes) to give you a high level overview. The detailed information around deliverability can be found here.
On your other questions (your screenshot unfortunately is broken in the post), I have answered below in bold
- How can we increase sales from email marketing? This is a huge question - my best recommendation for getting started and taking Klaviyo to the next level would be the Klaviyo Product Certificate. This training will take some time investment but is going to help you with a ton of strategic advise from sign up forms, segments, templates, flows and tracking marketing performance
- How can we track email marketing performance through Google Analytics? You are able to turn on UTM tracking which means GA will track all of your email revenue. Good content on that here.
- How can we optimize automated campaigns on Klaviyo? Flows are the key to success of a well performing Klaviyo account, and the Flow tab has a huge library of pre-built flows to get you started!
- What are best practices to follow? Like I said in question 1 - highly recommend the product cert as it will give you a really good level of understanding of how to maximise Klaviyo’s suite of products
- Unsubscribe issue is still pressing you can see below screenshot I think this is affecting email deliverability I’m not sure what’s in the screenshot, but if customers have unsubscribed in Klaviyo this should remove them straight away. Are you taking unsubscribes from other sources too?
Hope that helps!
Thanks
David
