Hi @yellowpencil
Thank you for posting your question in the community! This is a really good question.
What I have found works well in my own experience is to add a conditional split to the existing welcome series. Configure the condition split to the “Random Sample” option and set the YES path to receive 100% of the traffic. Make sure the “Yes” path is where your current emails are configured.
When you are ready to launch the new welcome flow, you’ll essentially update this Random Sample percentage to 0%. When you do, 0% of the users who would be triggered into the flow will no longer be allowed into that track. But, anyone already in the welcome series sequence will continue through it.
Then, when you are ready to transition to the new welcome series specifically for Christmas, you would follow this sequence.
- Set the first email in the Christmas flow to Manual
- Go to your existing welcome flow, change the random split to 0%
- Return back to the new welcome series, review the first few opt-ins (if any) to audit if they were already entered into the existing welcome flow
- If they were entered into the existing flow, cancel the Christmas version
- If they were not entered into the existing flow, and you can validate all new users are entering the Christmas flow, then you can update the message to Active and manually send those users the message.
I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions.
