I’ve been working with an email agency. When they started to rebuild my flows, they changed the status of all the old flows to “manual" instead of “draft". I don't know why they did that, can somebody tell me or it's just me overthinking 😅

Setting the status to "manual" means that emails will only be sent after approval, unlike the "live" status, which triggers emails automatically based on the set criteria.
 

Here are some reasons why setting a flow to "manual" can be beneficial:

  • Evaluate Messages: Review and approve the message before it is sent.
  • Test Flows: Test a flow to ensure it works as intended.
  • Review Recipients: See who will receive the message.
  • Edit Live Emails: If an email that’s already live needs corrections, switch to manual to make changes before reactivating it.

On the other hand, the "draft" status is used for emails that are still being developed or tested. Drafts are not sent out automatically and are typically used for working on copy, design, and deliverability.

If your flows were set to "manual," it’s likely to allow for a thorough review before activation. However, it’s a good idea to ask the agency directly about their reasoning to ensure their approach aligns with your expectations.
