Hello,

I am setting up a bilingual Shopify store and would appreciate some guidance on how to make sure that each customer receives transactional emails in their language of choice. I have looked at the Shopify transactional email templates in Klaviyo, but it’s not clear to me how I can integrate these with Shopify and configure them to cater for language preferences. Any advice?

Thanks in advance!

Hi there @Mstahl

Thanks for sharing your question with us!

Normally the best path forward is to gather the language of a custom as a custom property whether it’s in a form or an email campaign. Once you have this information, you can add conditional splits that will check for this language property and you can give a spanish or english email depending!

We have a Spanish-speaking Champion too, I would love to hear your thoughts on this situation @AlexandraPalau ?

Thanks for your participation in the Community!

Hello @Mstahl! Welcome to the Klaviyo Community :)

As Taylor stated, you would have to create a custom property that lets you know the language preference. You typically might have to ask this of the customer or you would know what language they prefer based on your site preferences.

Are you sending the transactional emails from Shopify or are you moving them to Klaviyo? If you are moving them to Klaviyo, you would set up a conditional split in the transactional flow to check for the language custom property and then the customer will receive the email based on the language that is saved in their profile.

Let us know if you have any additional questions. Hope that helps!

Alexandra :)

Thanks @Taylor Tarpley and @AlexandraPalau : )

I understand. I was wondering if there’s perhaps some clever way to pick up what language is active / toggled at checkout, so that I wouldn’t have to ask about it specifically. I’m obviously not a developer, but I would assume that there should be some kind of indicator of the active checkout language that one could use as a parameter here. I’ll investigate!

I am planning to send transactional emails through Klaviyo, integrated with Loop Subscriptions. In any case, it seems like a conditional split based on this implicit / explicit language parameter is the way to go.
