Hello all,

We are in the midst of looking to have a site redesign for our Shopify store and with that, we are wanting to with a different theme that will fully support Klaviyo features such as the Back in stock and Added to cart metrics. Our current theme, Streamline, requires us to contact a theme developer in order to have these installed on our store and even then, some features are unable to be integrated to our store. We ideally want a theme that can and will support all Klaviyo flows and metrics as well as being simple to install ourselves.

We’d love to hear what you guys think are the best themes and why.

Thanks.

Hi Sonny,

All of the themes will require you to add code for the features mentioned.  However, it’s easy to install (even without coding knowledge) with the instructions provided in the Klaviyo help docs.

Streamline is a fantastic theme and it utilizes the Shopify OS 2.0 features (they are game changers, in my opinion).  For context, I was a listed Shopify Expert specializing in store setups and themes.

Who mentioned it would require a developer and that there would be missing features?

If you don’t want to install the code yourself, you can always look to these sites for small one-off projects (prices are reasonable):

https://heycarson.com/

https://www.storetasker.com/

https://www.taskhusky.com/

Here’s the Help article on how to install the back in stock yourself:

https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001895651-How-to-Install-Back-in-Stock-for-Shopify

Hope that helps!

Curious, what’s your store URL, would love to see how you’re using your current theme!

Hey Manny,

I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to help me. In the article on how to install the back in stock button, Klaviyo says, “Installation of back in stock is not supported for Shopify stores using custom themes. For a list of supported themes, see our article on back in stock styling code snippets for free Shopify themes.” and in the list of the supported themes, streamline is not in there.

Do you think it would be best for us to go with a freelancer from one of the links that you provided and have them revamp our current theme as well as help us install anything we need for Klaviyo instead of choosing a new theme entirely? The idea behind our desire to get a new theme initially was to have a refresh on the design of our store, so what do you think would be the most cost-effective and efficient way to go about this?

Hmm, not sure what it means by supported themes (I see the article was updated yesterday as well).  I’m using the Impulse Theme (which is also an OS 2.0 theme) and everything is working great.  Adding @alex.hong (a community manager) here - Alex, the integration will work on any theme, right? I have yet to see it not work on a theme.

@Sonny if you’re looking at a site redesign anyways then that’s a different story.  I was thinking you were ready to change the theme only because of the Klaviyo integration.   Whether you go with a new theme or stay with the current ones is entirely up to your needs and how you want your branding/experience to be.

But the first question I asked clients when they wanted a refresh was.. why? what’s the end goal? Then the answers will be clear after that.

The end goal of this website refresh is to ultimately

  • Improve SEO, additional 2,000 visitors weekly
  • Improve sales by 15%
  • Improve retargeting capabilities

That being said we are still playing around with the idea of getting a website renovation so nothing is set in stone yet, we will continue exploring our options to see what is the best route whether its to hire a freelancer to incorporate the changes we need or if its to get a new website completely.

Hi @Sonny

Welcome to the Community! I love to collaborations happening like this!

To be clear, @Mailbox Manny is correct in siting that “Klaviyo not supporting custom Shopify themes” only means that we will not be able to assist in troubleshooting! Custom themes are compatible with Klaviyo code, but might require further assistance from a theme dev (one of the links manny shared) to make it “work” with Klaviyo. Additionally, the same logic applies to “Added to Cart” in terms of configuring the code to the specific theme to make it work. So, all in all, good news!

But the first question I asked clients when they wanted a refresh was.. why? what’s the end goal? Then the answers will be clear after that.

I love these questions as they can direct and steer businesses to answers who are also looking to rebrand or refresh.

Like previously said, exciting goals you’ve shared! Can’t wait to hear you share more on these in the future!

Thanks for being a part of the Community!

Best,
