Hello! I’ll preface this by saying I’m extremely new to Klaviyo and try as I might to figure this out, it’s over my head. I’m hoping someone here can lend a hand.

I have a WooCommerce shop and my Web developer just integrated Klaviyo for me. We sell two different products, which are subscriptions. When a customer purchases/signs up for a new subscription, they will be prompted to check the box to be added to our subscriber email list so that we can provide them shipping and other important updates for their subscription box. But here’s the tricky part. These boxes have different products on different production schedules, and they also each get access to unique codes for other specific products on the site. I need to create a segment (I think?) for each of these two subscription boxes so that I can send specific emails to people who subscribed to Box A and different emails to the people who subscribed to Box B.

Is there anyone here who could walk me through the steps of how to set up those segments to do that?

Huge thank you in advance! --Stacie

Hey @smags

The individual products that you have under Box A and Box B should be there in your ecommerce as products, to be able to sync that in klaviyo with Box A and B being the collections. from what I understand, you dont allow those individual products to be purchased under each box, correct?

once that is done you can create segments

"What someone has done" > "Placed Order" > where Product/collection Name contains 'Box A'.

"What someone has done" > "Placed Order" > where Product/collection Name contains 'Box B'.

I hope this helps and thank you for sharing your question here in the community.

Thank you so much for your reply and help! I did manage to set up the two segments, as you suggested above. So I have a related question now. I want to create a welcome email flow for customers who purchase either of those two subscription items--Box A and Box B--but I want the email to be slightly different for each. Would I do this by setting up a flow with the trigger as purchasing either Box A or Box B and then using a conditional split? And if so, can I set the conditional split to be Based on Properties about someone and then set it that to be one of the segments I just set up (Box A, for example)? Or is it not possible to base a conditional split on a segment?

Would it be better to just create a totally separate welcome email flow for each segment when they are added to that segment?

Hey @smags

If both of them go to the same list, its better to trigger the flow with the list.

If you are not concerned which list they are in and just want to check depending on their purchase, just use the place order metric and then add a trigger split (to check which Box they bought in this particular order) and then send them emails based on it. (do not use conditional split here as that is used to check if they did something over all time, but if you want to check what they did for that particular trigger (placed order in this case), then use trigger split.

You can also use a segment to trigger a flow, but its better to use a metric when it is available. Yes you can base a conditional split on a segment, it is the same thing, look at it this way - if you want to use a segment in a flow, you use a conditional split.

no you dont need to create 2 different flows as in this case you want to see who placed an order for your boxes, you I would suggest using placed order metric or whatever 3rd party app metric that records subscription in klaviyo.

Let me know if this makes sense.

thanks
