Hi! I have been struggling with the documentation available on suppression. It seems that everywhere I look, or anytime there is a drop-down menu to filter suppression profiles, there is a different list of how suppression is defined. I’m relatively new to Klaviyo, and I’m hoping someone can either confirm that the documentation is very confusion and/or help provide some clarity. :-)
When filtering for a segment, suppressions options are unsubscribed, hard bounced, has invalid email, and is manually suppressed.
When filtering the list of suppressed profiles, the options are unsubscribed, marked as spam, email bounced, invalid email, and user suppressed.
-- Why is marked as spam not on the segment filter? how would a marked as spam profile appear in the segment filter?
-- Is the email bounced in the suppression list filter a hard bounce or a 7 consecutive soft bounces?
-- I understand that user suppressed and manually suppressed are the same thing (just two sets of confusing terminology).
When reading the documentation on what counts as suppressed profile, the options are hard bounced, soft bounced more than 7 consecutive times, manually suppressed, suppressed in a previous email service provider. (https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005246108#what-is-a-suppressed-profile-1)
-- Why isn’t unsubscribed clearly presented as a reason for suppression in this document?
-- Why isn’t invalid email presented as a reason for suppression in this document? (When filtering a segment or the list of profiles, hard bounce is different from invalid email, so shouldn’t they both be listed here separately?)
-- Why isn’t marked as spam listed here? It’s also not an option when filtering a segment, but it is an option when filtering a list of suppressed profiles.
Just trying to understand the conflicting documentation has been a chore. If anyone has some insight that might help provide some clarity, I would really appreciate it! Below are some screenshots from each of the three areas referenced above.
