Hey @Stemandsoul
Welcome to the community
Export your contact list from Mailchimp, ensuring you include the subscription status field in your export file.
During the import process, Klaviyo will ask you to map the columns in your CSV file to Klaviyo fields. Make sure you map the subscription status correctly.
Klaviyo allows you to set the subscription status during the import. Make sure you set the correct status for each contact (e.g., Subscribed).
Ensuring Deliverability
-
Warm-Up Your Sending IP:
- Since you are switching platforms, it’s a good practice to warm up your sending IP gradually. Start by sending emails to your most engaged subscribers first and gradually increase the volume.
-
Authenticate Your Sending Domain:
- Ensure that your sending domain is properly authenticated with DKIM and SPF records. This helps improve deliverability and avoids emails being marked as spam.
Sending emails to unengaged or incorrectly marked subscribers can negatively impact your sender reputation. Ensure that your contacts are correctly marked as subscribed and are engaged with your content.
I hope this helps
Cheers

Hi Arpit,
Thank you so much for your quick and thorough answer. I appreciate your tips with deliverability and the reminder to authenticate my domain.
If I have already integrated Mailchimp with my new Klaviyo account, will this make a double of each contact, or will the contacts just update themselves? Just want to check before I do this.
Thanks!
Mallory
Hey @Stemandsoul
Klaviyo only creates one account for each email, it wont duplicate if you re-import the same email, however if there are multiple columns in the csv file that you upload, it will ask you to map those properties to this email and it will update the profile with those properties, but it wont create a new account for the same email.
Cheers
Arpit
It worked! Thank you so much for your help.
