I am testing the popup feature on my online store. When I add an email address, it is put under “profiles” rather than “newsletter list.” I have checked my settings for the pop up and have indicated to go to the newsletter so I am not sure what else to do.
If it goes to profiles, will that send them a welcome email or they will not be included in any emails under profile … this is just info on subscriber?

So if the newsletter list that you have is setup to “double opt-in”, whenever someone subcribes via your form, a subscription confirmation email is sent, which the profile has to confirm, before it is added to a list. However it will still be added to klaviyo as a profile, however the email consent status will still show “Never Subscribed”.
If that is the case, please turn the list to “Single opt-in”, so that whenever someone subscribes, that profile will be added to that list directly.
If the welcome flow is triggered by this list, and if profiles are not being added, it wont send welcome flow emails, a profile needs to be added to the list, to be able to go through the flow.
Let me know if that is the case.

Thanks for your reply. My settings don’t look exactly like that but found under API keys the option to do “single opt in”.
Did i do it correctly?

No that is incorrect, those two are two different things, please change that back to double-opt-in
You need to go to “List and segments” and then select a list that you want to change this setting for - this needs to be done individually/manually for each list.
Click on the list and then go to settings and change it to single-opt-in

Oh I see now. I went into settings under the avatar at bottom rather than list.
Curious though why I need double opt in for subsrcribing via API? Sorry I’m so brand new to email mkt I really don’t understand most of the logistics.
