Hello Klaviyo Community,
I’m currently setting up a sunset flow for subscribers on my main email list who have been subscribed for at least 180 days but haven’t opened an email in that time. The goal is to re-engage them with a discount offer, and if that fails, to suppress them to maintain list health.
Current Setup:
1. Unengagement Identification: Subscribers who meet the unengagement criteria after the sunset flow are tagged with a custom profile property “Unengaged” set to “yes” (using text due to issues with boolean properties in Klaviyo I have seen with this topic).
2. Suppression Process: These unengaged profiles are added to a segment called “Suppress Profiles,” which I plan to manually suppress monthly and remove from my main list.
Challenge:
My concern is regarding subscribers who are suppressed but later decide to rejoin the email list. The “Unengaged” property would still be set to “yes,” potentially causing them to be re-suppressed in the subsequent monthly cleanup.
Proposed Solution:
To address this, I’m considering creating a segment for individuals who have unsubscribed from the “Main Email List” at least once and subscribed at least twice. This segment would trigger a flow to update their “Unengaged” status to “no” and can also be used to send a “welcome back” email.
My concern is what happens when someone subscribes and re-subscribes multiple times - which I know is unlikely, but I want to make the most of every subscriber.
Questions:
1. Has anyone implemented a similar re-engagement and suppression strategy? If so, how did you handle potential re-subscribers?
2. Are there any best practices for automatically updating profile properties based on subscription status changes that might simplify this process?
3. Any insights or alternative strategies would be greatly appreciated to ensure that genuinely re-engaged subscribers are not lost.
Thank you in advance for your help and suggestions!
