Why does Mailchimp integration sync subscribers as "Accept Marketing" = False?

Hi there,

We moved our Mailchimp account to Klaviyo and started the integration. It works perfectly, except about 50% of the subscribers (double opt-in) from Mailchimp are imported to Klaviyo with column “Accepts Marketing” = false. 

Did anybody have that problem before?

@HenjoZiobro I've seen this behavior as well.. especially when you have multiple lists which is the main culprit of Mailchimp. Unsubscribes are added to the suppressed list if I'm not mistaken.

Just to hop in with Omar here,

“Accepts Marketing” isn’t actually opting anyone in or out of marketing emails. Accepts marketing is a property created when someone opts in or doesn’t opt in at checkout. People can subscribe to email in a lot of different ways, so that profile property is not always accurate. 

As long as the user is on a list and is not suppressed, they are still opted in to marketing and you can still contact them. :-) I hope this helps!
