Woo Product Purchase syncing with Klaviyo Emails

Hi,

I am having an issue with syncing emails from a Product Purchase to Klaviyo—it is somewhat specific if anyone has had a similar experience.

We are selling Virtual Classes on our site. The customer purchases the class, then they will receive email updates and reminders for the upcoming class. Ideally, the customer would be a subscriber to our newsletter, but we have a handful of purchasers who are not subscribed, therefore do not automatically sync to our segment in Klaviyo, and therefore miss the email. Classes usually cost anywhere from $50-$100, so missing these reminder emails is a pretty big deal for our customers.

Does anyone know a way to ensure the initial check-out process (from the Woo side) will guarantee they subscribe to our emails? Any tips and tricks on how to really encourage them to double check to make sure they are on our list?

Also, is it possible to embed a sign-up sheet in a product listing in Woo at the check-out process, or is there a pop-up to implement a sign up during check-out?

Any assistance would help. Thank you!

Are these email updates sent out in a flow? If they’re in a flow, you can get the emails marked as transactional, since it seems like their purpose is more to communicate essential product information, not to communicate marketing information. This process is outlined in this Klaviyo article.

Any transactional emails do need to be approved by Klaviyo, as they will get sent to everyone even people who haven’t signed up.

Additionally, you can definitely collect opt in at checkout (and should hopefully be doing this anyway)! The process to add this is outlined here (Under step 4 of Enable the WooCommerce Integration in Klaviyo). Once you have this set up, you could also set up a post-purchase flow with just one transactional email, that clearly lets purchasers know that they must be signed up for marketing emails to receive notifications (with a link to sign up, if they haven’t already). This is the option I would go with if it doesn’t work for your notification emails to be marked as transactional, and has the bonus of making sure as many people as possible are signed up for your email list!

Let me know if this all makes sense, or if you have any questions!
