We’re excited to announce an intuitive way to segment on someone’s current ability to receive email, SMS, or mobile push marketing and how it happened.
This brings all our new, more granular email marketing consent fields to segmentation. For a quick refresher, check out this community post!
What is it?
We’ve updated our segmentation conditions for marketing consent with more intuitive language and added new fields so you can further refine your audience based on how they became able (or unable) to receive marketing.
Simplified segment conditions
There is now one condition called “If someone can or cannot receive marketing”, which is the new way to filter for:
- “If someone is or is not suppressed for email”
- “If someone is or is not consented to receive SMS”
- “If someone has a push token”
Automatically updated segments
This update only changes the language used in your segment definition. It did not change who was included or excluded from your segment.
All of your existing segments that used one or more of the above conditions have been automatically updated to our new language without impacting the underlying logic in any way.

FAQ
Do I need to do anything?
Nope!
We automatically updated the condition in all your segments to use the new, single condition, without changing the underlying logic. In other words, there hasn’t been any change to who is included or excluded from your segments.
What about flow filtering?
This change has not updated your flow filtering options and will not affect any flow filtering logic. Stay tuned though! We will be rolling out these segmentation options to flow filtering soon.
Will this impact my campaigns, flows, or segments?
Again, nope!
This release does not impact any campaigns or flows. This is a simple change to our segmentation conditions while giving you more options to further target your marketing, if you so choose.
