Add profiles to list failed with Invalid profile IDs: set()

I found the issue, it’s on my end.  set() is maybe Python so you’re trying to create a list with no duplicates which made me think I probably have duplicate IDs in my list and I found 5 duplicates in the list I was trying to send.  I need to update the code on my end to de-dupe before attempting to send these.

Hey @David To just wanted to say thanks.  I finally had a change to re-run my scripts with the 5 min time shift.  After changing the Flow to repeat yearly, I’m now seeing the lists fill up as excepted!

I think you nailed it here, my flow is set to should not repeat so net new is going in but the existing profiles won’t because they were already evaluated.  I’m going to make some changes to the flow and test a sample batch of profile updates.  Thank you so much, this is really helpful.Chad

I was going to try to play with the time and go back 24 hours to see if that changes anything.  I’m pretty stumped on this.  I read both articles and what I feel like what I’m doing should work.  Based on what I read from this article how to create a date property-triggered flow.Klaviyo checks all profiles in your account daily (and whenever a date is added, updated, or deleted) to ensure that anyone who is due to enter a date-based flow is queued for the date-based flow.

Filling up a date based flow for existing profiles by shifting the date

For the Date update, I’m using Rails/Ruby and it looks like this:(DateTime.parse(paused_date) - 5.minutes).iso8601The paused_date is coming from the attributes on the profile so I’m just leaning on some Rails helpers with the 5.minutes then making sure it ends up as an iso8601 date before updating the profile.All the dates I’m updating are already in the past, I’m trying to get people into the flow who’s dates have already triggered.  This definitely works when creating a profile.  I have a task that runs weekly to add people and the jobs runs successfully.  The problem comes in when I’m updating a profile, no matter what I’ve tried I can’t get people into the flow if the profile already exists.

Flow filtering based on a custom property that may or may not exist

This is perfect, I want folks who do not have this property set to receive the emails.  I add profiles as customers pause their account with a custom date prop.  Then with a date based flow they should get an email 30 days later.  However if they activate their account again before the first email I set the subscription_status to active and was hoping to use that as a way to make sure they don’t get the email.

How do I create a new Profile via Klaviyo's API?

I’m not using Javascript but from the Klaviyo API revision 2022-10-17.  I can successfully create a profile using the following payload:payload = { data: { type: 'profile', attributes: { email: user.email, phone_number: include_phone ? phone_number : nil, first_name: user.first_name, last_name: user.last_name } } }Note the include_phone is a boolean that allows me to include the phone if I think it’s legit.  Klaviyo will error out on fake phone number so you really need to verify ahead, or retry without a phone number if the request fails.This is a POST request to:"https://a.klaviyo.com/api/profiles/"

Issues with invalid of unsupported phone number from the API

The error you’re seeing is because your phone number needs to be valid.  If you run the phone number through this validator does it come up as verified?  If so then you’ll need to reach out to Klaviyo.  For our purposes right now we’re not going to import phone numbers.  The extra verification step isn’t worth it right now.

New errors from API on phone numbers this week

Hey though I would chime in here, I managed to get a reply on my post here.  Your number needs to not only be E.164 compliant but also a valid phone number.  Fake numbers will be reject with the message above.  So your workflow is going to have to include phone number verification as well, probably Twillio or something else.  Bit of a pain since we have a tonne of phone numbers unverified in our system now.

Thanks for the answer, we’ll probably have to wire up Twillo verification on phone inputs now.  Bit of a side-step for us in terms of our use case but it seems like there is no other option.  It should be noted in your docs though, saying E.164 compliant isn’t the whole picture.  It’s E.164 + a valid phone number.  It’s an extra cost to us so would be nice to know ahead of development.Thanks.

New errors from API on phone numbers this week

Having the same issue above.  Made a post here.  We have users typically adding a fake number on sign-up then fixing it later.  Wondering how to determine that when I create the profile.  Right now I’m not adding the phone at all but that’s a little frustrating, some are correct.
