Sadly, I do not know how to add a red * to indicate required field - I wish that I did! The work around I use is to add the words after the label, see screen shot below. Not ideal, I know. I hope someone else has a better answer for you.

Do you mean like this below?

Both are text blocks where you can format the text.

For the multi checkbox, just disable “show label in form”

Oh my goodness. Thank you, @bluesnapper. It never occured to me that I could hide the label and replace it with a formatable text box. *face palm*
