Hey team,

Thanks for your time today! I was still a little confused about the contact card in the SMS welcome flow so I had a little look in to how to set it up and it looks as though its not offered in AU or NZ?

“Because virtual contact cards convert a message from SMS to MMS, they can only be sent to recipients using United States or Canadian phone numbers. Virtual contact cards will be removed from messages sent to United Kingdom, Australian, and New Zealand numbers, which can only receive SMS messages from your account.”

I read that in this article: https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/8458786130331

If this is correct, should we just remove that step from our welcome flow?

Thanks for your help!

Hey @Danielle NZ,

Welcome to the Klaviyo Community!

You’re absolutely correct! Virtual contact cards are currently only support in the United States and Canada. This means they are not supported in United Kingdom, Australian, and New Zealand.

If you had a singular welcome flow with a virtual contact card step, I would suggest putting a conditional split prior to the step!

I hope this helps!

David

Hi Klaviyo Team,

I’m a bit confused about the use of virtual cards. I’m based in the Netherlands, and I’ve never saved a brand’s contact information to my phone, yet their brand name always appears. Is this related to location-specific regulations?

I understand that for the US and Canada, using a virtual card seems essential. But what happens with our SMS if customers don’t have our number saved? Will they see just our phone number, or will it display our Default Sender Name & Company/Organization Name?

Perhaps if a customer saves our number, our logo will appear or what are the added benefits here. (FYI, we operate globally).

Looking forward to your insights! 🤓
