Thanks for sharing your question with the Klaviyo Community.
First, are you receiving any errors during the integration process? If so, can you let us know what those errors are?
You were correct in that you should be following the steps from our integration doc for Recharge rather than installing Recharge through the Recharge Shopify app.
I would also try triggering an event in Recharge i.e. Started Subscription, to see if that assists with pulling the integration through to the integrations tab.

It looks like it needed a recharge test order to come through for the metrics to populate in Klaviyo. So that did the trick!
