How Do I Collect SMS Consent and Phone Numbers from Previous Purchasers?

Hi @david.to  yes that helps a lot thank you! you’re awesome! what I am confused about is if the user goes to the form organically from the website, and we want to target customers in a specific list, how does Klaviyo know who the customer is and whether they are already in a specific list?  maybe a dumb question sorry.

@cassy.lee  hope you’re well.  I am looking at a similar thing and I want to collect SMS consent from existing email subscribers.  I understand the concept of creating a sign up form that targets customers in a specific list, but my question is: How does the customer reach that form?  Is it only possible from an email footer?  Or do they reach the sign up form, enter email and then are displayed SMS consent?  I am a bit confused about the customer journey for this.  I have read the guide suggested article https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035056972#collect-phone-numbers-from-existing-subscribers4 but it isn’t clear to me how we get the form to the customer.  Help appreciated - thanks

thanks @david.to , this is great info and makes sense.Can you confirm, if we implement the built in preferences form and we hyperlinked this from the customers account page (i.e. I am not referring to launching this from an email), and if we can’t pass the email to the form (so the customer needs to enter it) and the they entered a different email than what is associated to their Klaviyo account - what would happen?For example, if I were to receive an email at an address of davidtest@example.com and clicked on the Manage Preference option at the bottom of the email and updated my email address to davidtest123@example.com; this update would now be reflected within Klaviyo and would not create a new profile under the davidtest123@example.com email address.  Do you mean that the customers profile in Klaviyo is updated with the new email address they enter?If I understand correctly the Unsubscribe button in the footer of a mail is directly linked to customers profile and any changes they m

How can I export person_id by using their email address?

Hi @dlshaw9 hope you’re well, i’m looking for some help and you might be able to help :-)It’s fairly simple: we want to implement a preferences form hosted by Klaviyo but we can’t pass the email address over from account to the form, so want to do a check to make sure the customer has entered the correct email and that they already exist as a profile in Klaviyo.  From my research I can see this may be possible by creating a custom-built form and utilising the API to verify the email.  Do you think that utilising person_ID might be a solution to this?

What Email Validation Services does Klaviyo intergrate

hello @david.to  I am looking into ways by which we can avoid existing customers in the Klaviyo db updating their preferences via a preference form but using a wrong email therefore creating a new profile and not updating existing profile.  The above mentions the use of a custom form and using the Klaviyo API.  Is this possible to use this is validate a persons email by custom building a preference form and if so which API is appropriate: would it be IDENTIFY or GET PROFILE?  Assistance appreciated to know if this is possible thank you.
