Urgent Need for Real-Time Customer Merge Sync Between Shopify and Klaviyo

The API for merging profiles on Klaviyo was JUST added in the lastest update, so it’s not surprising that the Shopify integration hasn’t included that functionality yet. A month ago ALL profile merges on Klaviyo were manual.This isn’t a SOLUTION, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Hopefully the Shopify integration will be updated soon.

Syntax for Back In Stock Templates with a catalog setup via API

The core issue I was having was with the catalog:Documentation references Variant ID and not SKU, but there was an issue with our SKUs. For products with NO actual variations, a variation still needs to be created … we were actually sending 0 for SKU in the case of these. When I started sending the same value for Variant ID and SKU, the problems we were having resolved. The frustrating bit was that SKU wasn’t mentioned in either the documentation or the error messaging, so solving this was just a random eureka (or “doh!”) moment on my part.It’s possible that this was also causing the issue with the template which was the seed of this thread, but that’s in a “It’s not breaking, so I’m not touching it” state.

Start Email Flow From a Trigger From API

The simple solution:fire a custom event via the api Setup a flow that triggers off of the event which immediately sends the first email flow should have a time delay and then the second email another time delay and then the second emailI’d be sure to add a flow filter that checks to make sure the customer hasn’t already renewed their subscription. That could be identified by either another event or a profile property. Flow filters are checked before EACH email, so you only need to set that up once. A case that you might want to think about, and a slightly different solutionIf you already have customers in the trial before you’re launching this flow. Their trial is going to expire in less than 30 days. You could set the initial email on it’s own and trigger the reminder emails based on the expiration date:store the expiration date as a profile property trigger the flow based on X days before the expiration date time delay and then the final emailThe benefit of this solution is that you

Subscribe a profile using API

"id": "id",In your actual call, you’ve replaced that with the id of the profile, right? ** ignore me. I see you’ve left most of the PII like that and this is most likely not the issue **

I still receive an error with this syntax:{% catalog 'event.VariantId' integration='api' %} {{ catalog_item.variant.featured_image.full.src|default:"" }} {% endcatalog %}Error:Unable to find item with code: event.VariantId. What characters are supported in the email field of Profiles?

I’ve had the most trouble with emails that have initial or trailing spaces.  That’s easy to fix but frustrating to identify.

I tried a number of different values for integration, including ‘api’ so I don’t think that’s the answer in and of itself. Is the distinction of placing event.VariantId in single quotes relevant?I can’t test this right away, but a definitive “this is the syntax that will work” will be very helpful when we revisit these templates.

How does Klaviyo handle boolean fields that aren't set?

I get around the lack of “is not set” for other data types by checking as if it were TEXT. You can see that in my example. My segments are riddled with this.  Seems to work for date fields as well. Check against the dates that exist and then pretend it’s a TEXT and check “is not set”In my mind the TEXT:IS NOT SET is used in contexts where I’d use IS NULL as a distinct check from NOT EQUAL.

How does Klaviyo handle boolean fields that aren't set?

I’ve not run into this issue with a boolean yet, but I definitely add the appropriate “is not set” check for various numeric fields (some of which are effectively being used as T/F bits)

I’ll echo what @KeviSunshine said. I’m transitioning from a provider where I’d explicitly make an API call with:email to send to template to use merge fields to populate the templateMany of these map very nicely into the Klaviyo ecosystem:API call to create a custom event Flow triggered by the event that has templates and additional logic populate the template in the flow with data from either the event or the profileThe email that gets sent looks almost identical, but those Events create an wonderful record of what’s actually happening with a given profile.

Discrepancy between API and Klaviyo Dashboard

Unless your admin/dashboard is set to UTC, you might be seeing a discrepancy because of your local time zone offset.

In case anyone searches this group for SFTP functionality, it’s great to know the answer has changed. I feel the option is still a bit hidden, but it exists now:Integrations > Manage Sources > Import via SFTP

Invalid JSON for Webhook

Can you set the default to -1 or 0 so that it’s also a number? The default:’’ option is probably what’s not letting you treat the value as a number.{"customer_id":}
