You mean with sparse fieldsets? https://developers.klaviyo.com/en/reference/api_overview#sparse-fieldsetsIt won’t change the Get Events rate limit but will shrink the response size, so any code calling the API might process faster with a smaller response to parse.As for properties you can fetch, for fields[event] it’s ['datetime', 'event_properties', 'id', 'timestamp', 'uuid'].The ID of the event’s profile will already be returned, but you can fetch additional properties like first_name and email without having to make a separate API call to get the profile, e.g.https://a.klaviyo.com/api/events/?filter=equals(metric_id,"ABC123")&fields[profile]=email&include=profile

CDP: Code - any good use cases?

It’s a new feature, so I’m guessing not many customers are using it yet. The “merging of events” was a use case that often came up here inside Klaviyo.Think of code as an expanded flow webhooks feature. If there were ever a flow webhook you couldn’t do, e.g. because of the need for conditional logic in the data posted to some third-party, you can do that now with a code function.Another related use case would be to take event properties and save them to profile properties. See the example at https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/18620644491035#h_01HA9ZWYAYTKHB6V7269WYS8S8Also, if you have events coming in with properties not at the top-level (meaning you can’t segment off them), you could use a function to either send a new event with the needed properties at the top-level, or save those properties to profile properties.

CDP: Code - any good use cases?

One use case that comes up often is if you have two Placed Order-like events, say one for online and one for physical POS, and you want to merge them into one Placed Order event. You could use a function triggered on each event, that uses the Klaviyo SDK to send a new “consolidated” event to the profile, with a property on the event’s source, and any other properties you’d want to include.

How to associate specific activities with specific events/metrics we create?

Is there a metric for inquiries and booking? If so, are you using the Get Events API call to get these events? If you are, see if you see an $attribution block for each event. Is there any way to generate random Profile Property value in flows Property update step?

Do the random strings need to be also saved back to some system? Do you have to ensure they are unique?Or do you just need the ability to generate a random string of a certain length and include it in an email, and maybe save it to a profile property?If the latter, you might be able to do some fancy django tagging, see e.g. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/10860984/random-string-in-django-template/10938877

@popsmash Odd, usually encoding a plus sign to %2b does the trick. I assume lowercase vs. uppercase B shouldn’t matter.

Abandoned Carts Email -- How to prevent sending the email if the Cart is deleted?

What if  the user starts checkout, the event is emitted, but then the user goes back for whatever reason and removes/adds an item to then once again start checkout. This would create 2 Started Checkout events linking to the same cart but with different set of items. There is no way to sort of update the event in Klaviyo. The flow would treat it like the user visited the store twice and would send 2 abandoned cart emails. To handle this scenario, you can limit how often a profile enters the flow.https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002779411-How-to-create-an-abandoned-cart-flowAnother flow filter you might want to add is Hasn't been in flow in the last X days. This will prevent those who recently received your abandoned cart messages from receiving them again within the specified timeframe.  Click on the trigger. Choose Flow Filters. Multiple carts meaning, say, across multiple browsers?Regarding passing in the cart ID with this new event, is there some property of the Started Checkout event that would have this same ID? Though, even if there were, we can’t do a flow filter with a dynamic comparison value (e.g. Started Checkout cart ID == Cart Deleted cart ID.If the Started Checkout event does have a cart ID, one approach could be a profile property that’s an array of currently valid (non-deleted) cart IDs, and in the email itself, there is a way to dynamically cancel an email by doing a catalog lookup on a non-existent product. In the email template, you could check whether the cart ID of Started Checkout event (assuming there’s such a property) is contained in that profile property list (which you would update every time there’s a Started Checkout event and every time you delete a cart), and if not, we can use tagging to cancel the email from being sent.

Hi Chris, if you’re clearing carts on your end, could you send a custom event to the Klaviyo profile — say, “Cart Deleted” — and then in your abandoned cart flow, check whether the profile has had this event since starting the flow? This way, you could stop the flow from triggering if this custom event came in after the Started Checkout event (or whatever event you’re using for the abandoned cart flow).

Send an attachments via Integromat

Hi Sam, is the integration sending a custom event/metric to Klaviyo that includes a public shareable link to the PDF in Google Drive? If so, you could embed this link in an email using template tags, specifically the event variables.However, you cannot attach the PDF to the email, as explained here.Klaviyo, like most email service providers, doesn’t support adding attachments to campaign or flow emails. This is to prevent triggering spam filters, decrease email load time, and protect the security of recipients.

Global custom property for every profiles via API

For the birthday example, would you have a flow that is triggered on or a certain number of days before a person’s birthday?If so, you could have an “Update Profile Property” flow step that sets the value, and you’d only have to enter that value once in the flow step, and it would apply to all profiles entering the flow because their birthday is approaching.
