How to turn off Klaviyo Back in Stock Button for Discontinued Products

Hi @DieselGuyX , thanks for the question! It sounds like you might be looking for something that we provide when installing back in stock which is the property called “exclude_on_tags”. This allows you to exclude the back in stock buttons from showing on certain product Tags. Do you happen to organize those discontinued products with a Tag in Shopify? Here’s the doc on that. For example, you’d do something like this to start out the script:klaviyo.init({ account: 'PUBLIC_API_KEY', platform: 'shopify', exclude_on_tags: 'discontinued'});Let me know if this solves it!

Chat GPT Klaviyo Event Listener Code

Hi @jmacman ,This code utilizes Klaviyo’s V1 Server-side APIs which should not be used on the front-end because they require a private API key. Private keys should never be placed on a website since it exposes that in the browser under the hood and private keys can read sensitive information from your account. I’d recommend deleting the key from your Klaviyo account.Since ChatGPT only knows about information on the web prior to 2021 and perhaps the prompt given wasn’t specific enough, it gave you information on our old APIs and gave you server-side code. Instead, you should utilize the klaviyo object using javascript and identify the user → track the login. Klaviyo's track API with POST method returns 0

​Hey @lbaskar , makes sense as to why you’d want to use POST then! I just tested in postman with that payload (using my own account for testing) and was able to get a 1 back successfully. Klaviyo's track API with POST method returns 0

Hey @lbaskar ,Connor from the Klaviyo Solution Architect Team here. Couple questions for you:Do you happen to have a code snippet of how you’ve sent the request to Klaviyo? What language are you using? Are you using the GET or POST version of the Track API?I took your exact same payload provided above (changed around some of the user info) and was able to get this to work with the GET endpoint. See code example here: https://replit.com/@cbarley10/klaviyo-test-track-request-2#main.pyAdmittedly I haven’t tried out the POST Track endpoint, but it should yield the same result. My hunch is that perhaps there's an encoding error that Klaviyo cannot parse but I can give you my thoughts if you share a code snippet!

"Add to cart" event isn't showing up

Hey @barrelmaker , this thread and this post specifically might help you out here. When you’re testing this out by completing an “Add To Cart” event, are you sure you’re known by the Klaviyo cookie? The post I linked has more detail on who Klaviyo tracks and how you might go about testing this, but the TLDR is that Klaviyo does not track anonymous visitors, and there are a certain number of actions that somebody can do to identify themselves to the cookie.If you’d also be able to share the website where you’ve added the code so that I could troubleshoot on my own, that might help too!

Hey @Stape , If you want to use the _kx parameter in your requests (_ke is now deprecated), you can actually pass the raw value of the exchange_id that you can get in the console ( by running _learnq.push([“_getIdentifiers”]) ), and using that in a serverside request instead of $email. Example Track Payload:  { "event": "Blah", "token": "ABC123", "customer_properties": { "$exchange_id": "abcdefghijklmnop" }, "properties": { "test": "test" }}Is this what you’re looking for?  Also to your previous question, the container looks great, nothing that jumps out at me at the moment.

Can you send Custom Properties to Klaviyo over the API? If so can you send bulk?

Hey @JMD , yeah exactly - we have properties that Klaviyo auto-populates under certain circumstances like location based off of our cookie placed on your website (if somebody has done some activity on your site to become known), as well as a “How They Last Found You” section which will tell you how a person last landed on your website. And then we have everything else that you can decide to send to Klaviyo that will show up under the “Custom Properties” section. Those fields can be anything (string, number, array, object, boolean, etc.). Harkening back to the noSQL data schema, we will also interpret the data type for you.As for the responses, we only return a 1 (if successful) or 0 (if the request fails) and we don’t have a place to pull statuses at this point. What we would recommend is that if you do receive a 0 back from any API call (this is almost always due to improper JSON formatting or encoding), that you save those requests and attempt to retry them. Hi @JMD , you’re definitely on the right track! If you’re just looking to send Profile Properties to Klaviyo, you should use the identify endpoint. Any timestamped action (like when somebody places an order or starts a checkout) would be what the track endpoint is for.Since Klaviyo has a schema-less database (noSQL), you don’t have to pre-define the custom properties inside Klaviyo before you send those API requests. So you could start right away by sending your CRM data to Klaviyo via the identify endpoint as soon as you’d like. An example payload might look like this:{ "token": "ABC123", "properties": { "$email": "connor.test@klaviyo.com", "$first_name": "Connor", "$last_name": "B", "Total Number of Purchases": 3, "Loyalty Points": 200, "Language Preference": "EN" }}The identify endpoint was designed for very high throughput and low latency, and is an asynchronous endpoint. Track user "Active on Site" event from server side

Hey @gtm-server , cool you’re developing a Server Side tag! I’ve been working though that tool for a bit to see how it works and it’s really interesting.To answer your question, there are a couple ways to figure out how to spoof an Active On Site event through the Serverside API. The best way to tell is from the network tab in the Chrome Dev Tools, but there’s technically 2 ways to spoof it:On any onsite event, include $is_session_activity=true. It gets picked up and used to generate/update an Active on Site event with a new url and timeframe. To track it just by itself (ie to mimic a person just bouncing around on the page and not triggering other events) there’s a specific event name and structure. Hey @IanHogers , my bad! I misread your original post. From what it looks like, this is an issue with the _learnq function fully loading after the code to push the Viewed Items to Klaviyo gets called. Oddly enough, the next line is able to run, but this is definitely some weird DOM timing issue. Here’s what I get when I put a debugger on the line after you call:_learnq.push(['track', 'Viewed Multiple Products', viewed_items_construction]); This just means that _learnq is being initialized as an empty array and that klaviyo.js hasn’t loaded fully when this function is called.All I did to fix the issue was:Moved the declaration of _learnq outside of the $document.ready function to the top of the script above the line var viewed_items_list = [] swapped out your $(document).ready(function(){ }) with window.onload = function(){}These two things seemed to fix the _learnq timing issue as with those changes above, we get the following in the console: You should be able to see my profile with t

Hi Ian,Yep, so my initial hunch was correct, you have to be identified by the browser in order to have this event show up on a profile’s timeline in Klaviyo. Here’s what I did to test this:Identified myself to the Klaviyo cookie by adding in a utm_email parameter of https://canr46qfozzw1157-1828937.shopifypreview.com/collections/knitted-ties/products/dark-green-pointed-knitted-tie?utm_email=connor+kltest@gmail.com Clicked on the Add To Wishlist Button. In Klaviyo, I can now see on my profile that the Wishlist event was sent to my profileThe snippet appears to be working, you likely just weren’t identified by the browser when you were testing: To check if you’re identified you can type:_learnq.identify()into the console when you’re on the site and if you don’t see $email returned, you’ll know that you’re not identified.

Hey @IanHogers ,Do you happen to have a URL link to share that I could take a look at to debug? One other thing to note is that Klaviyo doesn’t track anonymous behavior, so if you are not identified on the site, the activity can’t be tracked back to a profile. Here is a good article about who Klaviyo tracks. We basically need one of 3 things to happen in order to properly identify a user on the frontend to track data to a profile:somebody fills out a Klaviyo form somebody clicks on a Klaviyo email that goes to your site with the klaviyo.js tracking code on it javascript written to execute and identify somebody via our javascript API fires to track somebody’s email addressYou can always check to see if you are currently identified by popping open the console and typing:_learnq.identify()if $email shows up, then you’re successfully identified. If just referrer info shows up, you’re not. A quick way to identify yourself would then be to simply add a URL parameter to the page you’re on (as

Hi @karan.tipl thanks for the reply. Yes you’re right, the V2 Lists API from Klaviyo’s API docs page will throw CORS errors on the frontend if you try them from the browser. That said, from the article I linked above there’s mention of an AJAX endpoint that you can use, or you can add the Lists specific form action URL to the action html attribute on the form element. Linking that here. The ideal solution would be of course for our forms to have an API that can refresh the form when the page changes on the frontend with React, which I’ve given to our product team as feedback. In the interim you can submit the form through that AJAX endpoint mentioned in the article I linked above and it should work properly regardless of if the page is an SPA or not. As for the IP location information, the Klaviyo tracking code should still pick that information up if the person who fills out the form becomes known to the Klaviyo cookie on your site. Why are our events not coming through

Hey @IanHogers, A couple questions/points for you:When you paste the code _learnq.push([identify, '$email' : '{{ customer.email }}' ]); be sure to add quotes around “identify” When you test that code in the console, are you replacing {{ customer.email }} with an actual email address? If not, you should do that for testing purposes. The Javascript console doesn’t know how to to parse the {{ }} characters since those are particular to Shopify and aren’t native Javascript characters.  A possible easier way to “identify” yourself in the browser if you’re looking to test to see if you’re getting properly cookied, which is the equivalent to pasting in that _learnq.push code you provided is to actually just add your email into your own URL with the Klaviyo tracking code on it like this: https://yourwebsite.com?utm_email=youremailgoeshere Corresponding article here Finally, do you happen to have the page that you’re looking at to test so that I can take a look here?Thanks!

Hey @karan.tipl, This is a great question. I have also made some React apps and hoped to use Klaviyo embed forms (nothing with Gatsby, but the same general ideas apply).The short answer is that our forms don’t play nicely with Single Page Applications that use browser-side routing.The long answer is that after testing any way to get this to work (creating a custom hook to call the Klaviyo.js tracking code, or the forms code that we add to a page with a Klaviyo form on it), it isn’t possible to programmatically refresh the form at this time. The product team is aware of this issue, though, I just don’t have a timeframe available for you on a fix for that.If you’re using something like react-router, since we don’t re-fire the klaviyo.js script on those page changes, and you can’t programmatically force that without doing a hard-refresh, a Klaviyo embed form might not be the best solution for you.We do have the ability to redirect existing sign up forms to Klaviyo from the frontend, so in
