I have set a checkbox that customers must check when submitting emails. Does that mean that customers' emails will be automatically subscribed without them having to click the confirmation button in the subscription confirmation email?

Is my setting correct?

Hi @chichi

Thank you for posting in the Community!

The subscription confirmation email will only be disable, if you disable it on the specific list, that your subscribers are being subscribed to.

You can disable it by the following way.

Head over to lists and segments → Click on the list, that the subscribers are being subscribed to → Click on settings → Click on consent → Click on single-opt-in, instead of double opt-in. That will disable the confirmation opt-in e-mail, which is sent to subscribers, when they’re subscribed to your newsletter.

Hope that helps! :-)

@chichi - Just to add to @Christiannoerbjerg excellent answer, you should see the following option if you following the steps to your List settings:

Thi guide might also be helpful to understand the “double opt-in” process:

Oh, if I add a checkbox, then I want customers to click the checkbox to agree to subscribe to emails, so in the Opt-in process I need to select Single opt-in to achieve this, right? Actually, I want to add this to make it easier for customers, so they don't need to confirm their agreement to subscribe again. And this setting is to avoid spam emails that might be from bots subscribing.

Hi ChiChi,

Your setup is partially correct, but there are some important points to consider:

✅ What Your Setting Is Doing:

  • By setting the Profile property to $consent and making it a required input, you are ensuring that users must agree to receive marketing emails by checking the box before submitting the form.

  • The checkbox is associated with a property called $consent, which is typically used for GDPR compliance or tracking user consent for marketing purposes.

❌ What This Setup Doesn't Do Automatically:

  • Checking the box does NOT automatically add the customer to your 'Newsletter' list or bypass double opt-in if that is enabled.

  • If your Klaviyo list has double opt-in enabled, subscribers will still need to click the confirmation link sent to their email.

  • If you want to skip the double opt-in process, you have to disable it in Klaviyo settings for your 'Newsletter' list.

📌 To Ensure Customers Are Automatically Subscribed:

  1. Disable Double Opt-In (if desired):

    • In Klaviyo, go to Lists & Segments > tYour Newsletter List] > Settings.

    • Toggle off the double opt-in option.

  2. Ensure the Form is Linked to the List:

    • Verify your form is set to submit data directly to your 'Newsletter' list.

    • In Klaviyo, check the form action settings and confirm it points to the correct list.

  3. Testing:

    • Try submitting the form with a test email and see if it appears in your 'Newsletter' list without requiring confirmation.

Would you like me to help you test this and ensure the subscribers are being added correctly?
