To be honest, my motivation for joining this course is getting clarity on these 3 points. I’d like to get inspiration to set goals, know how I can measure success, and please let me know how I can audit my account.

More questions than answers, but that’s why I’m here I suppose :-).

Hey @fibremood,

Glad that you’ve joined Bootcamp! We actually have a 45ish minute free course you can take that shows you how to do an in-depth account audit. Take a look here: https://academy.klaviyo.com/en-us/courses/audit-your-klaviyo-account.

To summarize, an account audit involves checking these aspects of your account:

  • Have you correctly set up your sending domain, sender email and DMARC?
  • Are you on a plan that most accurately fits your current email and profile needs?
  • What sort of deliverability metrics (open, click, unsubscribe, spam complaint, bounce rates) are you noticing? What needs to be improved, and how will you do this?
  • How are you collecting subscribers? Are your forms appearing and are your forms and checkout page adding people to the correct list and into the correct flow? Could you add subscribe methods in order to gain subscribers more quickly?
  • What flows do you have, and are their triggers healthy and filters/splits working as expected?
  • What patterns do your top performing campaigns have in common? What about your lowest performing campaigns?

This can take some time to achieve, but the good news is that we’re over 2 months out from BFCM, so you have plenty of time to get this done!

Does it make sense to audit when I am brand new to Klaviyo.  I have a few flows set up (3 to be exact), and I’m taking the Klaviyo academy to learn as much as I can about this tool, which I have heard so much about.

Hi @patty.barrett,

It never hurts to give your account a light audit to see what you’ve been doing well, and what areas you can still grow in! If you’re new to Klaviyo, there might not be a ton of engagement data to base your audit on, but ensuring that you have integrations, forms and flows set up correctly is really important in the early stages of your account.

Hi everyone,

As a completely beginner, i would really appreciate if I can get some help in understanding the 2nd and 3rd questions.

  • How are you planning to measure success?

  • Have you uncovered any gaps during your account audit that surprised you

Currently, I only have 11 subscribers and am desperate to grow the list.

Thank you.

@Emilyz,

The “How are you planning to measure success?” question is asking which measurable outcome you’ll use to determine if your BFCM was successful. Different outcomes include total purchases, revenue generated from emails/SMS sent in Klaviyo, an open/click rate target on your campaigns, or growing your list by a certain size. Since you have 11 subscribers, I think we’re both aligned that the main focus should be growing your list.

May I ask if you have already created a pop-up form and an embed form and added them to your site? Those are essentials for list growth. Along with that, most online stores allow you to collect subscribers at checkout. Does your checkout process have a little checkbox that allows people to opt in to marketing?

Getting people to visit your website in the first place is also half the battle. It might be worth thinking about advertising on Facebook/Instagram/Tiktok to get people to your site. We even have integrations with Facebook and TikTok to get people who subscribe via those methods into Klaviyo.

We have numerous resources you can look through to help you find some ideas on how to grow your list. This blog is particularly useful, and might be worth checking out, and you can sign up to receive our guide on list growth here.
