Hi everyone! I'm setting up a new SMS-only pop-up targeted at users who already subscribed via email but skipped the SMS step in my original two-step welcome pop-up.

In the original flow:

  • If someone enters both email + SMS, they trigger a welcome flow and get an email and SMS with their unique discount code.

For this new SMS-only pop-up:

  • If someone already got the email discount and now enters their mobile number, will Klaviyo send them the same unique code from the original flow (which might no longer be valid), or will it trigger a new unique code?

  • Should I create a brand new welcome flow (with a separate discount offer) specifically for these SMS signups?

Just want to avoid duplicate codes or any confusion for the customer. Appreciate any insight—thanks!

This is a great question. I do believe the best route here is to build a second flow for this second touchpoint of the sign-up unit. In the second flow, you can make the Trigger be “When someone is added to oInsert Name of SMS Opt-In List]. I personally would use separate coupon codes as this would be a follow-up offer (assuming it is days / weeks after the initial sign-up).

 

If  you want to limit the number of discounts someone receives for signing up, you can filter out people who have used the prior discount within the Trigger (image below).
