Hey friends,
I lost my access to my DNS provider which is Bluehost. Now I am trying to setup DNS records but I no longer have access to that platform anymore. I lost the email I logged in with in Bluehost and since the two factors are turned on. Idk how to get inside. How can I setup dns records now? Is there any alternative solutions to it? What should I do. Please help!!!

Hi @Sam91

Sorry to hear that!

If your web hosting and DNS are both on Bluehosts and they are your domain registrar, the only option is to contact Bluehost support. Explain your situation. They should be able to help. They will request security info for proof of account ownership to get you back in eg last payment date, last four CC digits etc

If Bluehost is not your domain registrar, in theory, you could login to your registrar account to change your DNS nameservers to elsewhere for configuration. However, that is a last resort; you would need to recreate ALL your DNS settings. Mistakes with that could affect website access, email etc so not recommended!

As a side note, when 2FA is enabled on any system, you are usually given the option to download 2FA backup codes. Not helpful info in this instance, but good to know if you didn’t.

Hope that helps and that Bluehost support gets you back in!

Regards

Andy
