Hi everyone! I am hoping to identify email/SMS sign-up sources from our website. I have a Shopify website, but I am hoping to see with each new email/SMS subscriber, where they are signing up from. I.e. is it at checkout, on our website pop-up, in our footer, etc. Is there a way to collect data/information about this?

Any insights or info have on this would be super helpful!! Thank you.

Hi ,

Great question! To track where your email/SMS subscribers are signing up from, Here’s how:

  1. Use Klaviyo Signup Forms:

    • Assign a unique identifier to each form or location (e.g., "Footer Signup," "Popup," or "Checkout") using hidden fields or custom properties.
    • Klaviyo automatically tracks form submissions, so you can segment users based on their signup source.

Once set up, you can create segments in Klaviyo based on signup source for targeted campaigns. Let me know if you need help setting this up!

Hi @DaniS

To add on to Noah’s point, when people subscribe to email/SMS through Shopify, Shopify doesn’t differentiate between signups at checkout and signups through Shopify forms. That being said, subscribers that come from either of these two sources will have a $source property with the value of -50, in their custom properties.

If you’re looking to see exactly where subscribers signed up from, I would recommend using Klaviyo forms, as people who sign up through our forms will have the specific form’s name as the $source value.

Let me know if I can answer any additional questions.
