Turning inactive profiles into active upon opt in

Question

Hi there,I have a retail store (brick & mortar as well as online) and we rack up a ton of inactive profiles just from people getting receipts via email/SMS in store. I’d like to have a simple and automated option to get those people subscribed to our list if they’d like to (and vice versa suppress them if they don’t want to subscribe, so we aren’t paying for them). The best solution seems to be setting up an automatic flow to send a one-time opt-in email as soon as a new profile is created, ideally with just a button in the email that’s something like “Thanks for shopping with us! Click the button below to join our mailing list”. My question is is there way to have them click that “yes” button to opt in and have it automated that they are then automatically added to our list and turned into an Active & Subscribed profile?

This is a great question, and I’m happy to provide some potential solutions.The first and probably most straight forward solution would be to allow customers to subscribe in store - an example of this would be a checkbox that a customer can click as they’re checking out - this would need to be created within your POS system (Shopify should be able to do this).The other option would be to create a new flow for just POS (in store) customers - the trigger would be Placed Order and then you would add a trigger filter that says ‘Source Name equals POS’. In the flow email, you can add a section that says ‘Thanks for shopping with us! Click the button below to join our mailing list” and then you can have a button that says ‘Join/Subscribe’ and links to a subscribe page where a customer can subscribe to your email list.
