I’ve been using midmimi for years for email marketing and they were bought by godaddy who is doing just a miserable job of implementation and support. Because one of my 5 web business is a t shopify Id like to integrate Klaviyo. I want to upload my entire database so I can send occasional newsletters to my 20K+ list. Will Klavio handle this size and allow me to send a campaign to all my customers? Thank you!

Welcome to the community @Lonny Jarrett

Yes, Klaviyo can easily handle lists of that size. Just make sure you choose a plan that covers the number of emails you intend to send each billing cycle.

More info on importing lists here: https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005251128 and here: https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043947571

Some considerations:

  • Esure you review your exisitng lists for contacts’ marketing subscription status and only inport opt-ins to your main list. You don’t want to be sending marketing emails to contacts who have previously unsubscribed via your old email system. Nor do you want those contacts to add to your ‘active’ profile count as that could increase your Klaviyo subscription plan cost. I would also create a list of  those unsubscribers and import them to Klaviyo’s global suppression list. You can do that here: https://www.klaviyo.com/people/suppressed by selecting ‘import’ (top right of that screen).
  • Depending on what data you can export from your old email system, you may want to consider including contact data as custom properties in Klaviyo. See https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000250912. and https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005074627 For example, birthdate, phone number, location, products purchased (as a list data type), preferences etc. That will help with segmentation later on.
  • As you are moving to a new email system (Klaviyo) you need to consider warming your list: https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/360025945671 and https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/20413890435355 for deliverablity and sender reputation. Don’t inport and then immediately send a large email campaign!
  • Ensure you have your Shopify to Klaviyo integration set-up: https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005080407
  • If you intend to send abandoned checkout emails from Klaviyo, switch off Shopify’s abandoned checkout emails. That’s under Shopify’s admin » Settings » Checkout: Deselect: Send abandoned checkout emails automatically

Hope that helps get you started, but any questions, let me know

Andy
