Thanks for posting in the community and welcome to Klaviyo! I understand that since you’ve never done email marketing with this list before, many of the warming guides provided feel like they don’t apply to you. How much information do you have attached to the emails? Do you have dates for when people provided their emails or most recently engaged with any of your social ads?

I would use the information at your disposal to make the profiles in your list as fleshed out as possible, then create a few segments based on when people submitted their emails. People who more recently engaged with your website or social ads will be the most likely to interact with your emails and provide a stable beginning to the warming sequence. I would create segments with people who engaged with your content in the last 30 days, 60 days, 180 days, etc. and are on your list, then create a few campaigns that will mirror what will eventually become your welcome flow. Set up these initial campaigns to only send to the most recent and engaged segment, ideally smaller in size (I would aim for a segment of 500-1000 people, although Klaviyo will probably let you know if this is a good size). You should also have these campaigns set to Smart Send Time with 24 hour exploration, so that the system (and you!) will learn about the optimal times to send your emails. 

Once you have sent a few campaigns and have open rates of 30% or above, then I would set up the welcome flow to send to your oldest email acquisitions and less engaged profiles. I would also make sure that your Klaviyo account is set up to be in the warming stages so that it is letting you know the best next steps.

In the campaign, shouldn’t we give them an opt out or update preference options then segment or tag further to create a clean list?  also I’ve heard that giving them 3 emails to respond is a good practice?

Every email you send should always have an opt out and update preferences link at the bottom, but an email included within a welcome flow that specifically asks to update preferences is always a good idea. 3 emails in a welcome flow is good – I would just make sure that they’re spread out enough that the recipient doesn’t feel inundated and one of them is a conditional split for if they’ve used their welcome code then a reminder that their discount code is expiring.
