I helped build Giftnote - Shopify app for automating gift messaging with Klaviyo

We’ve seen some interesting trends:

  • 79% of gift recipients have never purchased before

  • 65% of gifters are making their first purchase

We enabled our customers to create these segments:

 

I’d love to get feedback from the klaviyo community here - how would you go about...

  • Turning recipients into first-time buyers

  • Turning gifters into repeat gifters or even self-buyers

Hi ​@nick-giftnote! I love to see how successful Giftnote has been for being able to make specialized segments. This is super relevant at Hazel Village because we’re such a big company for gifts (especially during Q4 😅).

 

Since I am also involved in packaging and product development, most of my methods for turning recipients into first-time buyers is just to make sure that the branding, package inserts, and tags for a product are very clear and inviting for the recipient to find our website and get excited about the other products. I would also utilize some type of referral program, where when a recipient receives a gift they also receive a discount code for their first purchase. It would also send the gifter a discount code if a recipient makes a purchase, of course. A referral program would definitely encourage gifters to keep gifting! 

 

If you have the contacts of gift recipients who haven’t purchased, I would definitely put them through a welcome flow that is very inviting, exciting, and informative. If you know what product they were gifted, specialized product recommendations (that aren’t duplicates) would also be very enticing.
