Hi all - I've noticed from photos sent by my customers that many of them are installing my product wrong. My photographer just delivered an installation video that I think would be very helpful. How do I send this (at once) (in Klaviyo) to all customers who have purchased the product?

All options to import my contacts (from my Shopify store) seem to filter for only customers who have opted into marketing. To be clear, this is not marketing, it is purely a PSA for installing the product correctly.

(If the answer is “Klaviyo is a marketing platform, you really can’t use it for a non-marketing purpose” … that’s fine, I’ll find another solution. I am just 99% sure it can be done because I get similar "how to" emails for items that I have purchased, where I did not opt into marketing, that have hallmarks of coming from Klaviyo!)

Generally speaking, for Campaign emails, Klaviyo lets you send an email to anyone that can receive emails (marked as Subscribed or not in Klaviyo).  The only exception is if any emails are suppressed (e.g. unsubscribed themselves, or by you or any other system). If you need to send to unsubscribed users, you’ll need to contact Klaviyo to review and approve your Campaign to make sure it’s not promotional and they can make it a “transactional message.”

You can create a Segment of profiles that made a purchase (filtered down to that specific product).  Then you can use that Segment as an audience to send your Campaign to with a link to the product installation video.  This would be a great email to also consider to your Post Purchase Flow so that anyone in the future who purchases that product will also get that email.  You can see how to set that up here:

So unless you intend to send emails to people who have been suppressed, you should have the ability to do this right now. Hope that helps!

 


One thing to add to the above solution is that you can only send transactional messages through a flow, not a campaign. So what you can do is create a flow that is triggered by a segment (profiles who purchased specific product), and then add an email to the flow. Once the email is created, you can apply for transactional status - if approved, you can use our ‘add past profiles’ feature so that all of the profiles in the segment enter the flow and receive that transactional message.
