Hi everyone,

We are migrating all our marketing and transaction emails from Mailchimp and Mandrill over to Klaviyo and need some help on the API integration side.

We use a backend API integration to trigger transactional emails on certain actions on our site (such as a new order, order dispatched etc). The closest thing I found from the developer docs was the “Render and Send Template” however it is marked as deprecated and vaguely mentions I can achieve similar functionality using “a metric-triggered flow, then send one or more Track API calls”. I do not know what that means, I did scour through the docs but couldn’t find what API it is referring to.

Can someone please clarify what this refers to and any guidelines on the Mandril API alternative in Klaviyo will be great. If this is not possible in Klaviyo, then this will also be good to know before we commit further.

@iqbal_cos, you could program it all but you can also just setup a flow for whatever you want to happen. i.e. order notification and only send the event data to Klaviyo that basically triggers that flow. These flows need to be set to transactional type.

Check this for more info: https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003165732-How-to-use-flows-to-send-transactional-emails

This event should be able to trigger a order confirmation: https://developers.klaviyo.com/en/docs/guide-to-integrating-a-platform-without-a-pre-built-klaviyo-integration#placed-order

Hope this helps.
