Hello. I am trying to set up the branded sending domain but can’t even get past the 1st step. It’s saying “pending” at the first step when I go to set up the branded sending domain. I don’t have an option to “add”. This is stressing me out as I don’t know what to do, there are no instructions on how to trouble shoot this. HELP!

Hey @Exie,

I get your frustration! A pending branded domain can be stressful. Here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue and hopefully get your domain verified:

  1. Try TXT record: Klaviyo offers CNAME & TXT methods. If stuck on CNAME, switch to TXT (if available).
  2. Wait for update: DNS changes can take 48 hours to reflect.
  3. Double-check records: Ensure you copied & pasted Klaviyo's CNAME/TXT records precisely into your DNS provider's panel.
  4. Klaviyo support: Still stuck? Contact Klaviyo support for further assistance. They can investigate based on your specific setup.

Hope this helps!

Hey Sajul,

Would I make this switch through Klaviyo or the Domain provider?

I added this the other day… I was instructed to do this by someone else who set up their branded domain recently, but not sure if this will work for me to?

This CNAME and TXT talk is making me go crazy… I don’t understand it and ideally need someone to help me do it but when I send a support email to Klaviyo I keep getting error messages and it’s not sending :(

Just want to get this sorted...

Hello again,

I’ve just updated the DNS settings to the below…

If this doesn’t solve the problem in 48 hours I’m going to update the DNS settings to the below…

Hoping one of these works. The first screenshot I sent you a did about 4 days ago and nothing happened.

Any insights into the best DNS record for this issue please let me know :)

Hey @Exie, Looks like you added XXXX in the public API key field. It should be your actual key.

Oh! Wow I am such an amateur hahaha! ok let me try to fix this.

Ok, is there only 1 API key that exists for my domain? Or does klaviyo and domain provider have different API keys? If so, where would I get it from? The domain provider or klaviyo?

Klaviyo uses its own API keys, separate from your domain provider's API keys. You'll find your Klaviyo API keys within your Klaviyo account, not through your domain provider.

Here's how to access your Klaviyo API keys:

  1. Login to your Klaviyo account.
  2. Click on your organization name in the bottom left corner.
  3. Select "Settings" from the menu.
  4. Click on "API Keys."

This page will display your existing Klaviyo API keys and allow you to create new ones if needed. Each Klaviyo API key has a specific scope (read-only, full access, etc.) that determines what actions it can perform within your account.

Hi @Exie

Great answers here from @Sujal - just as a quick note, the API key that you have to enter in the TXT record is your public API key. This is shown at the top of this page.

Thanks
David

Thanks so much @sajul and @david  I have made that update and will wait 24 hours to see if it fixes it. If not, I’ll try the 2nd option for DNS settings :)

Hello @David Adekeye

It’s still not working for me. I put the correct DNS settings and the public API key into the TXT line and nothing has changed.

Any other advice you might have? Thinking to get a specialist on this as I clearly don’t know enough about it…

If you have any other advice please let me know. Thankyou for you help so far :)

Hello @Exie Instead of dynamic  dns try the static one.
